Honestly this won't stop me from enjoying his stuff.
But I tend to not let what someone in r/l is like ruin what I enjoy on screen.
Probably the main reason I have absolutely no problem whatsoever watching Benoit matches etc.
Not defending what he did but it won't stop me enjoying his work.

I think his career was kinda on shaky grounds anyways after leaving whatculture. The truth is someone like him is a dime a dozen, he was good, but nothing great or so amazing it would have me to follow him through his own startup channels, and I hope whatculture still does 10 facts about every survivor series.
I wonder if Jack The Jobber, King Ross and the other guy is pounding on whatculture's doors asking to be let back in.

Again, leaving whatculture was a questionable move for his career imo and this kinda cements he probably won't have much of a career now.

Again, leaving whatculture was a questionable move for his career imo and this kinda cements he probably won't have much of a career now. By all accounts, from the people tweeting afterwards about WhatCulture’s business practices over the years and how they treated Kenny Macintosh (now behind Behind the Ring and various wrestling talks in the UK/Ireland), it seems like those guys were pushed out due to wanting too much than them actually wanting to leave. That doesn’t take away from any of this mind you, just that WhatCulture, from other people’s experience, are a cheap as shit organisation who barely pay anyone enough to keep going and want it to stay that way. The leaving wouldn’t be so unceremonious if they actually wanted to leave, after all.

I’m Adam from WhatCulture and What. Just. Happened. Dickhead. It is pretty safe to say that dickhead happened, in a manner of speaking.

After going though the Cultaholic twitter feed I really can't help but feel that this is getting blown way out of proportion. Don't get me wrong what Adam did was both sleazy and not very nice but the people on twitter who are calling him a sexual predator on twitter really need to claim down. Dude pretended to be a "ally to feminist" then took advantage of girls 10 years younger than him to get nudies. Dude's an absolute predator. He's a both a hypocrite and creep and not to mention a lying cheating bastard as well but still not a predator. That being said I do think his public apology is a load of self serving bullshit.

This doesn't seem like a big deal. The guys a shit boyfriend and a bit of a c*** but a predator? Um.. Pretty much. If 'flirting' with 'fans' whilst in a relationship upsets people then I really hope you never meet your heroes. I know an extremely popular wrestler who has done worse than this.

In a stunning development, a guy who none of us know personally may be a different person on camera than he is in his real life.
For the life of me I don't understand what's so hard for people to understand about this. These people aren't your personal friends, your love interests, your anything. They don't owe you shit and you don't owe them anything either. You are a fan, they are a provider of content, that's the relationship.
Social media making people like this more available to us and the rise of the "internet celebrity" has blurred these lines so much that I think a lot of people forget that.
Please note, this post is not to blame the victim or to absolve Adam, this post is generally a meditation on the way we treat in the modern social media era.

Obviously no one in the public eye "owes you anything" in terms of being a good person, but that doesn't mean people can't be shocked/upset when someone they like turns out to be a scumbag, whether it's Adam, a TV presenter, musician or whoever.

I do think the Youtube thing is stretching 'celebrity' pretty far. Also, while kinda scuzzy, it's not like the power dynamics are anywhere similar to say a Weinstein thing

And that's fine, regular disappointment in those type of people is fine. It's the extremes of the bell curve that I'm speaking about, who sadly have the loudest voices on this stuff. Most of us are rational thinkers about this, but the fringe frightens me something fierce sometimes and I think they need a reminder of the real relationship here, not the unhealthy fantasy they are living.
