Just wanted to talk about how great Tax was on commentary. My favourite colour commentator of all time. Funny, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, personality and rarely over bearing.
I believe He was the greatest colour guy of the past 20 to 30 years let's compare.
Lawler: Even in the 90s He was still very grating on the ears and very creepy with the women. "Puppies" is one of the grossest words for boobies I've ever heard. He came across lazy at times and pretty phony. Still on His day He was pretty great especially as a Heel.
JBL: started off good but god did He get annoying. Constant mistakes, way too loud and over bearing, seemed like He was trying to get himself over, horrible phrases and jokes e.g "flying goat", obnoxious fake laugh. His first run was good at the booth I don't know why He came back though? Guy didn't really need the money just think He loved the sound of His own voice and wanted everyone to hear it.
Booker T: ...
Heymen: I didn't watch at that time and He wasn't on there for long.
CM punk: Pretty good but would shit on things way too much. Never been a fan of His kayfabe breaking style.
Corey Graves: Too early to tell but He's been great so far.
I only started watching late 90s so don't really know about anyone else. But yeah Taz is amazing I think He was the best of the past 20-30 years. What's Your thoughts? Think someone else was better? Think I'm just talking out My ass? Let Me know.

Anybody hanging around Cole for years looks better by comparison but that doesn't makes him good.
If you think Taz was great then please don't watch his stint with Mike Adamle or his shit tna career.

Color commentary Taz was such a sharp contrast from ECW FTW Taz, it was pretty jarring.

Not for nuttin', Cole
Joey Numbers
ROCKETBUSTAH
Yambags
But in all seriousness, I thought he was great alongside Michael Cole and they both brought out the absolute best in each other. During the initial brand split I thought they were far and ahead of RAW's announce team. Having seen the Paul Heyman documentary years later and finding out how he'd have Tazz and Cole in the studio for hours and hours in post-production redoing large chunks of commentary until he found it perfect, it's easy to see why. But yeah, I'll always have a soft spot for that 2002-2005 period when he and Cole were on point.

He kept JR afloat for a while so that in and of itself is a miraculous feat.

He was goofy but I liked him in that way I like Macho or Booker on commentary. He and Cole worked well together.

There was a time he was amazing, but like what happened to King and JR, he basically became a caricature of himself and went to shit. First few years were great tho

I dug him for a small window there for sure, but when he got bad, he got really bad.
My fave is probably Joey Styles though.

Taz was at his best when he was frustrated and protective of his brand. His commentary during the SvR survivor series back in 06(?) was great. He was also fantastic during the Raw/Smackdown/ECW draft slowly getting more frustrated as the night went on.

Him and Cole were the first announce team I heard so I have a soft spot for them as a duo. I think they need each other to be good though.

When Tazz settled into doing commentary, I remember somebody on the internet saying "They took the Human Suplex Machine, and turned him into Laughing Petey Senerchia, The Mechanic From Hell".
I don't know why, but I always found that funny.

He could've made Cole Cruiserweight champ in like...A year. "Welp...here comes the pain!" I miss this and wish someone still said it whenever Brock appeared.
