so i decide to post all my results and stuff from my very own created NHLPA93 season, using international teams, to a total of ..... get this ..... TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY TEAMS!

now for those in the know about the number of countries in the world, there isn't that many, so i had to be clever and add ones to make up the numbers!
you'll see when i post them

so first of all a MASSIVE THANKS to the creater of the 30 team rom over at forum.nhl94.com/, his name is WBOY, so give a little cheer and a wave when you go over there.

so really i want to have F.A.N.NIES (yes that's what i'm calling you ) to sign up in a desperate attempt to be popular

now to warn you, this is a GIGANTIC THING that last season ran for more than a YEAR, so you're in for the long run ..... and i'll also be posting about classic moments in the almost QUARTER OF A CENTURY i've been doing my seasons! ever since i rented out the original EA HOCKEY game and soon after bought it too!

simply put, i'll list the teams and you pick a team, and if they win you get a prize* ..... yes even now the bribes are starting and i'll put up the listings on the next page so to separate them and make it easier to manage, just post in this thread or even PM me ..... ahh you know what to do peeps

something i've just added so i could start it back much sooner than i do now, a little filler so to speak, that includes the winners of what i call the "four classics" competitions ..... and also the return of the brilliant original game in an all new CLASSIC COMPETITION .....

first up is the "four classics" winners competitions, and also an original competition return, and finally a big old thing!

like i said, having to get sixty teams per continent wasn't easy, but it was fun to do. obviously the five big UK teams will be a hell of a lot better than the five others, so pick them at your own risk, also those other five are in the WHL2 a lower league setup done very differently from the main season ..... and all very complimacated

and just to add to it there's the WHL CLASSIC LEAGUE, consisting of the original international teams in the original EA HOCKEY game

WHOA what a finish for UNITED KINGDOM, needing a win over PORTUGAL and for HUNGARY to lost NORWAY, and as usual they give me multiple heart attacks along the way! but to be fair they were never behind and HUNGARY were struggling, and at the end i heartily cheered my team to success! otherwise there wasn't much to play for in the others ..... so we're finally at the end of the groups and see above for the knockouts, just that one game mind, anything can happen!

other than changing the schedule so the games are staggered with the rest of the preseason competitions, and i'll be posting them separately, so this doesn't leave the first page ever again MWAHAHAHAHAHA well that's whet everyone else does

i used the original EA HOCKEY game since it came out way back in 1991, when i saw it previewd in MEAN MACHINES issue 11 and immediately saw it as a great game to have, and to sim! like it's twin bro JOHN MADDEN FOOTBALL it was PHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENOMINAL as i played about a hundred games and lost only six ..... mostly because i played at the evil soviet union team , i actually did a crazy simmed custom league season on JOHN MADDEN as well, but that's for another time

it simply was THE best sports games ever! so i rented it out from the wee shop in my town and the rest is indeed history, i also got NHL HOCKEY and still have the EA HOCKEY / JOHN MADDEN double pack and the last time i put on my megadrive all my games still worked!!!

so when i post new results i'll try and give you something special each time

and as you can see, COSTA RICA is a double cup winner from last season, which is always impressive!
but they're up against tougher competition for this one

BRAZIL started slow last season but gained valuable pointage during the end season competition, coming second in the overall season ranking of the ELITE DIVISION, only second to JAPAN!

TUNISIA ran riot through the FIRST DIVISION, gaining season points in ALL of the qualifiers and finals, and winning the division with an incredible 181 points total! SCOTLAND were second to them, just thought i'd mention that

EQUITORIAL GUINEA however only placed in the season points position in only three competitions, and didn't even get out the group stage of the THIRD DIVISION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, so consider them rank outsiders for this.

and now before the entire thing goes off the first page, and nobody wants that do they

here's the first of MANY ..... that's MANY ..... classic moments in the original WHL competitions, starting all the way in 1991-1992 when i first rented out the game and then bought it outright!

and for the first classic moment we go to the ..... LAST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS that was played in february 2010! because i actually did my competitions in REAL TIME, having a date to play each of the games, from AUGUST to FEBRUARY!

now how i did that champs was simple ..... for a 22 team game ..... 4 groups of five teams, and importantly the team who was LAST in the group, had to qualify the next time to get into the groups!

this final year the four idiot teams were .....

that's right ..... SWEDEN finished last in the previous groups!!!
former FOUR TIME champs!!!
it was the biggest shocker in the WHL

so the first round draw was the following

and that was the end of the former champs!!!
HOORAY

so that meant GREAT BRITAIN faced BELGIUM in the groups, much better ..... i've said that a LOT when TEAM GB is concerned

first round of games ..... WELP

not a good start there, but still three games to go .....

YAY, as the former YUGOSLAVIA team were brought down!!!

and TEAM GB got a single point, which put them on four, and the table looked pretty damn good for them, as a win would put them through for the first time in WHL history!

and round five was probably the most nervous i've ever been watching the games!!!

after all this time, after so many failures, GREAT BRITAIN finally qualified out of the world championship groups!!!
not only that, they were second in the group!!!

and per the qualifying rules, the group winners SWITZERLAND would go straight into the quarter finals proper, while second and third would play in the PLAYOFFS ..... and our opponents in the playoffs .....

NONE OTHER THAN THE REIGNING CHAMPIONS FINLAND!!!
who barely made it out of the groups and were having a stinker of a championships, the brits were on a massive high going into the game too, so there was a real possibility there was going to be a major shock on our hands!!!

the scene was set, TEAM GB and FINLAND played in the third playoff game, and the winner would face HOLLAND!

it started not well as FINLAND scored early on, but that was it for them for the first period
second period was unbelievable as GREAT BRITAIN scored TWICE to take the flipping lead!!!!! but mere moments later FINLAND equalised and the second period ended 2-2.
my palms were sweaty ..... my mouth was dry ..... i was shaking like a leaf ..... all this from watching the computer play with itself as the third period started, it was gut wrenching ..... THEN DISASTER STRUCK!!!!!

TEAM GB had scored an OWN GOAL!!!!!

THE HELL THEY DID
they dug in even deeper, creating chance after chance, piling pressure on the opponents constantly for the last ten minutes of the game, the last ten minutes they would ever play!!! they had nothing to lose .....

constant pressure but to no avail, FINLAND held on and GREAT BRITAIN was running out of time, and the last minute hooter had just went .....
the puck was in the finns goalzone, a shot was fired and heading towards the net ..... was this it, was this the goal that sent me into raptures of joy???

less than a minute from the end GREAT BRITAIN hit the post!!!!!

and that was that, the minute flew by and TEAM GB only got one more attack in, and then the final hooter went to end what was an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIC game!!!

a truly exciting game to experience, TEAM GB going ahead of the world champions for just a couple of minutes, then tragedy!

the final ever game was over ..... and i gave in my mind GREAT BRITAIN a standing ovation for their efforts!

FINLAND however never made it to the final, they only finished FOURTH while it was a second title for GERMANY, while GREAT BRITAIN finished twelfth.

but finally the hoodoo was broken, GREAT BRITAIN would have a group stage qualification to it's name, and the world was right again.

BURKINO FASO had a fantastic season last, beating the favourites to win the african championship TUNISIA, in the final game. also got themselves promoted to the elite division by way of reaching the quarter finals of the first division world championships, level points with SOUTH AFRICA, but having a better SAS (season adjusted stats) score so they will be playing the big boys this time! can they stay in the top league?

CHINA had a very meh season but at least they weren't relegated back to division two, and only success coming in the asian championship, surprising everyone by defeating JAPAN to win it! they never even registered a top placing in any of the other competitions too, so double for them!

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND already have the W.H.L. CUP TROPHY in their cabinet, and look to add to it in pre-season. their best season by far finishing fourth in the elite division, not only winning the european championship but the european cup too!

finally ECUADOR was very strong in the continental championships throughout the qualifiers and playoffs, although failing to chart in anything else and just missing out of a close promotion chase in division one.

BAHRAIN's only success other than surprising everyone by winning the DIVISION THREE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, was their two top eight placings in the ASIAN CONTINENTAL PLAYOFFS and their ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS final appearance, where they finished bottom of the eight team group. however they won the division and therefore got themselves promoted to DIVISION TWO, so a double winner then!

FRANCE began the season winning the CHAMPIONS CUP, but failure to reach the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS was a bugbear, and with only a third in the W.H.L. CUP to show for their efforts before the worlds it was up to them to finish strongly. and and unbeaten run in the group stages and winning it on a canter proved invaluable, and with victories over AUSTRALIA, JAPAN and finally CROATIA in the final they lifted the ELITE DIVISION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in style!

PARAGUAY also had a good start to their season with a third place in the DIVISION ONE CHAMPIONS CUP, but alas again their promise failed to live up to expectations, as a quarter final placing in the WORLD CUP was their only joy. never troubling the top of the FIRST DIVISION, they finished twelfth and will need a bit more if they are to challenge for those five promotion places, their FIRST DIVISION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP victory another surprise!

SIERRA LEONE were our final surprise, since never troubling the top eights other than the W.H.L and WORLD CUP's, but their overall season points total was easily good enough to be promoted to DIVISION ONE. reaching the knockouts for the DIVISION TWO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS they had to get through some really tough opposition ..... first taking out BOLIVIA in the playoffs, then double cup winning COSTA RICA and in the semi finals faced the strong europeans SLOVAKIA ..... and they beat them to reach the final against the favourites VENEZUELA! so once again david whooped golaith's ass i guess!

DENMARK's only success last season was in the CHAMPIONS CUP, runners up to the powerhouse of TUNISIA, and in the WORLD CUP once again running up to TUNISIA.
finishing second highest up of the scandinavian teams, and at a lowly 22nd in division one, so they have to be careful for this season.

FINLAND however were relegated from the WHL altogether, thanks to them being the lowest ranked european country, finishing well below SLOVAKIA in division 2 down in 19th! they will have to do what AUSTRIA did and play through the WHL2 season and get back into the big leagues, they should really .....

NORWAY finished highest of the scandinavians at 15, but 25 points off promotion, so got a long way to go up the league this season.
they also started the season with a quarter final in the CHAMPIONS CUP, and reached the final of the EUROPEAN CUP and lost to REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, other than that nothing of note really.

SWEDEN's season crashed and burned badly, failing to record a single points placing, and finally humiliated by being RELEGATED to division 2 finishing 26th ..... 3 points off CONGO DR ..... their last chance for valuable points was the WORLD CUP against NORTHERN IRELAND, and they lost, unfortunately CONGO DR won their first round match over EGYPT in overtime and survive! what a disgrace to a past powerhouse of ice hockey
