I love that they're building Omega-Jericho as a bloody brawl. Firstly it adds more drama to the match. But secondly, there's no way Jericho can match the athleticism that is a core part of Omega's main event matches. The added bells and whistles combined with both guys storytelling will lead to a match that, while it won't match Okada-Naito, it could compete.
That said, this all reminds me of the Punk-Jericho feud. They tried so hard to make this a blood feud, but it simply didn'twork, at least for me. The match at Wrestlemania was really good, but also not memorable. However, that feud didn't have a moment that felt as real as the press conference brawl.
But Okada-Naito is still the match I'm most excited for. And as a side note, Naito losing the belt so quickly was perfect for his character arc.

Also, separate post for separate point, I would love for Kawato to get some kind of moment at the big show. He's been the high point of the last 2 months.

Naito is doing a meet and greet at Pro Wrestling Tees in Chicago (Not really related, but not really deserving of its own post) Cool, their releasing a US color version of the shirt it looks like Chicago Flag color. D-Lo Brown joining LIJ confirmed.

PWT has Chicago flag versions of several shirts since they are located in Chicago (NJPW lion logo, Bullet Club logo among them)

Problem also was with Punk/Jericho was the fact they strung them up in a straight up wrestling match with a bullshit stipulation Sure people were looking forward to Jericho and Punk wrestling but that match should have been no DQ instead of the bullshit stalling we got for the first 10 mins before the match got fully into gear

The same article that names Omega/Jericho as no DQ also mentions Ibushi/Cody is moving forward as a non-title match. Brandi is also listed as being in Cody's corner. Overall, I thought that was a great go-home show for the Dome. Good that Kitamura won, as he's older than Young Lions usually are. He needs to go on excursion ASAP and come back ready to be a major player. Loved Henare and Ishii's battling, which was somewhat surprising considering Makabe was in the match. Also think SHO is a future IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion. EDIT: Full card was released tonight. Not going to type it all up, but the new matches/stips are: - Confirmation of the Rumble
- Confirmation of the NEVER 6-Man Gauntlet: BC vs. Taguchi/Juice/Makabe vs. Ishii/Yano/Beretta vs. Hanson/Rowe/Elgin vs. ZSJ/Iizuka/Taichi
- Confirmation of stipulations for the NEVER title Deathmatch: No DQ, no countdown, no seconds at ringside, pin/sub in ring only, loser loses hair
Chuck mentioned Beretta being at the Dome (without him) in their weird post-match promo at the WTL Finals. It was also mentioned elsewhere that Gedo told Elgin he was still booked for the show, and there he is. Not a fan of those two gaijins, but happy to see ZSJ and War Machine.

Fun and good go home show for the Dome. I do wish I knew what the heck Suzuki and Tanahashi said in their promos, Naito's seemed to be his usually hype promo.
I have to agree watching Ishii/Henare go at it was incredible. Disappointed Kawato lost, but I get why Kitamura won. Jay White's character is growing on me, I think it's going to be pretty good, not sure about the match with Tanahashi's injuries. Naito/Okada tag was fun and I liked the ending. Naito is one of the few "heels" that can pull off the handshake thing, just because sometimes he won't attack you.

No DQ should be a feud ender. I'd much rather it be a straight up match even if it's just a one off.
They want to kill each other? Why? Jericho has taunted Omega? Omega has the US title in a huge company and Jericho is unattached. There's no storyline reason for this to be no DQ to my mind.
If they wanted to do this, you have a chaotic first match with a screwy or cheap finish. I get they don't have the time before WK to do that, but in that case why force the gimmick?
This is like the Punk feud all over again where there was no actual basis for the heat that was between them.

Because Jericho is 47 years old and isn't going to be able to keep up with Kenny for 25+ minutes (and if they're promoting it as a Tokyo Dome Main Event, it's going to have to go at least 25) otherwise.

Then...don't book the match? Or at the very least, book it so it doesn't need to be top of the card. Sorry, I mean I know what you're saying there, and I realise I'm in the minority here, loads seem really excited for this. It just feels like one of those things where if you're going to do it, do it properly. This feels rushed now, heat for the sake of heat. Also, cardio aside, I'd still put Jericho way above Omega as a worker, but again, personal preference there.

If nothing else, at least promoting it the way they are has added another layer of intrigue with Naito getting annoyed that it seems like they're trying to take his main event slot away from him again, and with Jericho sniping at him in interviews (making people wonder if Jericho might stick around for more than one match).

That side of it has me much more interested for sure. I think it's more likely to lead to Naito/Omega (which...meh, but at least it's a program that people will be hot for if Naito takes the belt, which will mean he carries the momentum he currently has much more effectively). I'd be down for seeing Jericho get that Japan style 'vet gets a shot' match. Like Tenryu. Only able to move.

Jericho is still a fun character but him being leagues above Omega as a worker? That's one of the most laughable things I've heard in a long time. Watch Jericho's pedestrian matches with Kevin Owens this year or maybe the Reigns stuff before that and then watch Omega/Okada, Omega/Naito, Omega/Ishii, etc.

Watch Jericho's pedestrian matches with Kevin Owens this year or maybe the Reigns stuff before that and then watch Omega/Okada, Omega/Naito, Omega/Ishii, etc. It all comes down to preference. Omega doesn't get me invested in his matches at all. The only matches of his I can say "Yeah I really enjoyed that" was with Haruka. The rest I can see he's good, but it does nothing for me. He's one of a crop of guys who just feels like he's playing at being a wrestler, I don't believe what he does in the ring, I don't see him as having any great presence. And that's just me, I don't ask anyone else to share my view and clearly many do not. It was just relevant to the conversation I was having with Polaris. If this had been a topic prior to the Owens team/feud, I'd have been a lot less complimentary about Jericho as he hadn't got me invested in anything he'd done since his SRS World Title run, but this year won me over again.

Jericho's character work is at the top of it's game, but when you really look at his recent in ring work, he's lost a step. I was curious if Jericho had it in him to work a New Japan main event style match with Omega and the fact that they made this a no DQ, really shows that he probably can't. My only real knock on Omega as a worker is he likes to do unnecessarily dangerous stuff in his matches and I am sure this match is not an exception at all.
