The year is 1985. After the disappointment that was Superman III, the heads of DC at Warner Bros. decide to take the series in a different direction, and to coincide with DC's 50th anniversary (also being celebrated by this "Crisis" comic thing they're doing at the same time), it's decided that they need to up the stakes with their characters. As such, it's decided to make a movie based on the Justice League.
You are in charge of casting this movie. You are given the directive that you are to have these 7 members in the league: -Superman -Batman -Wonder Woman -Aquaman -Green Lantern -The Flash -Martian Manhunter
Who do you pick for casting? Do you keep Christopher Reeve around despite what happened with Superman III, testing if he can have more serious fights? With no Batman 89, who do you go with for the Dark Knight? Do you give Lynda Carter (who is only in her mid 30s at this time period) a chance to do a bigger budget Wonder Woman or do you cast new blood into the role?
You can also pick what villain they face if you like for your choices.

In 1985? I could see them definitely trying to get Reeves, Carter and maybe even Adam West back.
Tom Cruise as Hal Jordan basically playing his character from Top Gun. Or it was the 80's. Maybe they'd take a chance and give us Jim Belushi as Guy Gardner.

Alternatively, going by what I saw reading Crisis on Infinite Earths, just before Crisis it seems John Stewart was the feature Lantern, so you could cast him for the role too if you wanted.

Danny Glover? I went for Belushi as Gardner mainly because that's the voice I hear in my head whenever I read Guy Gardner, and the 80's was probably the last time that Jim Belushi would've been in any kind of position to play that kind of character, so that was just dream casting for me. I don't really have a similar situation for John Stewart (I usually just read in Phil Lamar's voice) or Hal Jordan (I usually just read in Zap Brannigan's voice).

Actually, i'd replace MM with Cyborg to tie in with the Superfriends cartoon, and have him played by either Billy Dee Williams or Carl Weathers. As for the villain, while I'd like to see Darkseid, I know that it would look pretty cheesy with 1985-era effects and makeup, maybe have a proto-legion of doom, with Brainiac (in his pre-cyborg look), Cheetah, Black Manta, and Sinestro. Dont know who would play them though. Getting back to the main cast, even though he wasnt exactly known for action movies, I think that Michael J Fox of all people might be a decent Flash (Fox was moving out of teen roles and into playing adults by the mid-80s anyway).

I think Williams or Weathers would probably be a bit too long in the tooth to play Cyborg in 1985. I was actually thinking Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Theo on The Cosby Show) as 80's Cyborg, but he'd probably have the opposite problem as Weathers and Willaims as he'd only be 15 at the time. I was also considering Michael J Fox as Flash, but he'd really fit better as the Wally West version of Flash (who wasn't even a thing yet) then Barry Allen. Hey, forget a 1985 Justice League movie, I think we've got a better shot at casting a 1985 Teen Titans movie.

I mean, Cyborg at this time, even in that season of Superfriends, was a teenager. Sure you can have an actor play younger, but I can't picture either of them playing a teenager.

I think this would have been fairly cheap actually. Not really seeing A list big names attached. Reeves was unknown and Batman was still the Adam West show for a fee more years before comedian Keaton was cast. So I think im casting this out,of practicality instead of a big names of the 80s game. Likely they would want A NAME attached but not all of them and Reeves the unknown before the gig would be part of that. Probably some people associated with action movies at the time or near stars would be involved. Maybe Van Damme as a villainous role or stunt man.
: Reeves-Superman Tom Sellick-Batman Briggite Neilson-Wonder Woman Peter Weller-Aquaman Carl Weathers as Stewart or Miachael Biehn as Hal -Green Lantern John Terlesky - The Flash Dolph Lundgren-Martian Manhunter
I also think there would have been a legion of Doom so each person had their own nemesis. Thats a very 80s take. Minimal screen time like the Masters of the Universe ensamble.
Lex- Gene Hackman cameo Bizaro- Reeves again Cheetah- Tanya Roberts Capt Cold- Tim Thomerson scarecrow- David Caradine Black Manta- Kevin Peter Hall. Sinestro- Scott Glenn

Great question. Crazy to think who would have been Batman in 1985. I read a post on another board once where a guy wanted Stacy Keach to be the Dark Knight Returns Batman(before he got too old). Even though this is before DKR came out, maybe Keach as Batman in 85?
Heck, we could have had Don Johnson as Hal Jordan.

I think Flash should be Ralph Macchio, I like a younger Flash given his personality.

From what I remember Hal was still the lead Lantern of Earth. Stewart was Hal's backup. Hal didn't really stop being the Lantern until he went mad in the mid 90s
