Watching back, yeah. There’s clearly someone screaming for Marty to go home like 5 minutes before the match ends. Its such a nuts story for a match to go over by 12 minutes. I find it interesting to look into and talk about.
Nothing against Matt Cross and the other guy but their match had no reason to be on the card.

As far as going over time and all of that, a way to keep that from happening or at least communication correct is to hire someone to run gorilla or production for the event like Bruce Prichard or whomever so you don't have Nick telling someone to not cut anything and not telling Cody. You just have that single point of contact to keep everything flowing. You also institute time limits to matches like in the olden days and if someone is going over, you have an out to keep things manageable. Yeah. I want to assume they had a permanent man there assisting the show running, but if so, why wouldn't the Bucks have the guy tell Cody that they decided to give Okada extra time? You could have even had a guy like Colt or Rocky Romero do that. You know what they say about assume. Some ball got dropped somewhere. In the grand scheme of things it was alright, but it could have been an absolute disaster if they would have had a situation like Halloween Havoc and gone off the air half way through their main event. It is just a learning opportunity for the next one, just need that source of truth for production and timing. It could even be whomever is doing that work for ROH or Impact these days, just as long as it is someone who isn't working a match and have a plan or out for if someone is going way over.

Cross has been an indy wrestler, barring his year or so in WWE, since 99 and has been a stable fixture in that world. His match felt like a "thank you" for what he's done in the same way Daniels going over Amell and Cabana coming out to put Bully through the table felt like thanks for all they've done for the independent scene.

OK, watching Okada/Scurll for a third time now. I have never noticed anyone yelling to "Go Home" so I'm actively looking for it.
It's a single ref that comes to bang on the ring right when Marty snaps Okada's fingers. It doesn't become super obvious (and again, I'm seeking it out) until Okada hits the first Rainmaker to counter the Chickenwing. It gets the most attention when Okada is hitting those forearm shots, as the crowd as died down a bit. Then you have the slap, OG Rainmaker and Rainmaker to end it. Unless I missed something, it doesn't seem like they were telling them to finish until five minutes before it ends.

We missed out on the greatest thing in the history of wrestling. Not sure how much of that was them joking, but it's not a bad idea for the next one. Not the bear suit part, just having Batista on the card. He vocally wants to work again and wants to work for the fun of it, not held to the bizarre logic of WWE booking. He's got all kinds of geek cred thanks to Guardians. Can you imagine him being so hype for something like this he convinced the Guardians cast to be ringside for it?

What would be amazing is the Bullet Club could be responsible for the first live action Marvel/DC Crossover.

We missed out on the greatest thing in the history of wrestling. If that had happened, the pop would have been heard back in Stamford.

I just finished this (finally) and was surprised at how much I liked it. The Okada/Scurll and Lethal/Gordon matches were just okay, Janela/Page wasn't my thing, and Joey Ryan is still f***ing awful and a blight on wrestling. Other than that, really enjoyable show. That moment of Cody winning the NWA title is one of the best wrestling moments of the last few years. That shot of the emotions hitting him and Brandi at the same time was a work of art.
Basically (in my opinion), take out the adolescent dick joke/Joey Ryan segment and you have a pretty damn good show.
