20 years old, and he's already on his way. Well deserved.
Anybody's who's followed the Young Lions in the past year can tell you Kawato's near the top of the class.

Very excited about Kawato, will have to follow his stuff in CMLL. He's got the fiery underdog babyface down already.

Looks like I will have to watch some CMLL on YouTube. I was hoping he would go to ROH for selfish reasons, but Mexico is a good fit for him. I have a feeling he is going to come back even more angry.

CMLL has a partnership with ROH as well NJPW so there might be a chance he gets some work in ROH as well. |

I LOVE this practice of excursions. The last week, I've learned more about how the Young Lions class works than I did in almost a decade of me being aware of puroresu. The head shaving, how they gain their equipment piece by piece, the seven Proving matches, the excursions...it's absolutely fascinating, and probably a better system than a typical wrestling school operates. |

I LOVE this practice of excursions. The last week, I've learned more about how the Young Lions class works than I did in almost a decade of me being aware of puroresu. The head shaving, how they gain their equipment piece by piece, the seven Proving matches, the excursions...it's absolutely fascinating, and probably a better system than a typical wrestling school operates. Don't know if you've had the chance to check it out, but YouTube channels like Showbuckle and Octopus Stretch have done some really good videos on the system, too, gives a lot of interesting info. I don't remember if it was Meltzer, but somebody like that made a really interesting comment last year when talking about a spot during a battle royal or the Royal Rumble where a couple of younger WWE guys who had been through NXT just had to do some basic brawling to kill some time before the next entrant was in, but looked like they had no idea what they were doing. They compared that moment to seeing some of the Young Lions when they have their first ever professional matches and how they already look like they belong in a wrestling ring upon debut, even if they're still obviously raw and keeping things to the basics. |

Well, you just have to look at the utter mass clustersmurf that was the end of NXT 2 to see what happens when you place a bunch of guys who are still trying to learn the ropes into a situation like that. But I think that's how it was booked as much as it was them not knowing how to go through the motions. But you're definitely right. Look at Kitamura, guy already looks like he could win any of his matches right now, we just know he's not going to yet because of his standing. Hell, I watched NYD from last year, and Billy Gunn trying to get into Kitamura's face after his loss really made me think Kitamura could have messed him up if he wanted to. They could have something with this kid. |

NJPW definitely want him to pick things up on excursion quicker than say Kawato. How long does an excursion usually last, out of curiosity? Hiromu was from January 2014 to November 2016, while Jay White was June 2016 to November 2017. Roppongi 3K were January 2016 to October 2017. So at least a year is what I'd expect. I guess it varies on a case by case basis. |

How long does an excursion usually last, out of curiosity? 18 months - 2 years seems to be the average, but it's pretty much until the Young Lion finds something good out of it. Like, Okada got told in TNA that if he wanted a decent push then he better find an actual gimmick, and he sure as hell did. |

How long does an excursion usually last, out of curiosity? 1-2 years is the norm. They take that time to develop an identity and character for themselves while further improving their in ring prowess, like how Hiromu's work as Kamaitachi played a part in his Time Bomb character. |
