Yeah but all of that was before Twitter popularity. Say ypu don't like a certain tv show amd you'll get a public campaign for your head these days. I don't think WWE would've done so hot with the Chris Benoit scandal today. This isn't anywhere on the level of Benoit though. "Wrestler takes Steroids" is not a story.

Agreed, it's not anything remotely close to the Benoit situation. It is, however, something that the company's own behavior basically screws them with. If he gets found to have bought and used them, normnally it's "ok, he's a wrestler and he's on the juice, who cares". They NEED it to be that. What it is, is "A publicly traded company, that markets itself first and foremost to kids and families, that claims it is family entertainment, has their star performer taking steroids and getting caught in a scandal. Their ratings are down, their not bringing the money they once did for their network or for their investors, people are tuning out, and now the guy they have insisted, repeatedly, is the one who will be the face of everything, again repeatedly, is caught in a drug scandal".

Yep. On top of that, you'd have turmoil within the company from a bunch of guys whose overness has been sacrificed to Reigns.

Indeed the Reigns scandal is not. I meant strictly that the Benoit mess wouldn't have gone down the same way it did if it happened today. I have a feeling they would've been in much more shit if it was brought up in the Twitter age is all I'm saying. I definitly should have clarified there, I admit.

The RAW 25 crowd will have fun with this. Not nearly as much as the Rumble crowd will.

Frankly, we've seen this before and this time, Vince's steroid woes won't be front news because of...other issues in society.

R.Onion Rings, Welcome to the Impact/Global Zone. I agree. The Shield with a Fast Food Gimmick would sell out any arena in the country. Look out for the K - F - C invasion!

I always figured, if WWE really wanted someone badly enough that if they got three strikes, they'd fire that person but then update the wellness rules on the grounds that it leaves no room for stars who overcome their issues via rehabilitation or such.
So basically the new improved policy is still 3 strikes, but upon later review you may be deemed worthy to return at WWE's and doctor's discretion.

Yeah,, Roman can get popped as many times as he wants(and I'm not saying I believe this story here, for what it's worth, just too scant info on either side for me to come down clearly), and WWE will move heaven and earth to find/open a loophole for him to come through it.

Yeah, they essentially created some loopholes for themselves so they'd never have to fire Randy Orton. Granted, Orton hasn't failed a test in almost six years, but when he did get popped a second time they were quick to introduce the "piss clean for a year = lose a strike" rule.

They don't even need to move heaven and earth, they can just not act on anything. WWE isn't going through USADA or anything for this. Their policy is completely self-administered and whatever lab is doing the testing is locked down under so much legal red tape and NDAs that they probably don't even know whose piss they're testing. Probably no information about if someone has medical clearance for something, and it's the company that then looks at the information and puts the names and shit together. WWE can just clam up about that shit or not test someone for X, like with how Brock is excluded from the whole system because it "only applies to full time wrestlers".

Can someone clarify that Meltzer said this?

They already CAN still rehire you if you had 3 strikes, as long as you do their rehab program. You just still already have 2 strikes when you come back.
