This sucks. It really does. To retire so young, but neck issues aren't one to play with.

It's bad enough that she has to retire so young, but doing so as a member of a family of wrestlers has to be an even worse blow. Hopefully they can find something for her outside of the ring as she's still a strong asset to the company. Yeah, her 46 year old mother and her 64 year old dad still wrestle, and she's retiring 5 years before most people hit their prime. That has to sting.

Well... WWE has Sarah Stock and Sara Del Rey as trainers on the road and in the Performance Center. If it comes to that, what are the chances of Paige being a good enough trainer to help new girls find their footing in WWE?

Man, I won't pretend I was ever a super-fan of hers, I just didn't find her that engaging, but to have your dream ripped away from you at 25.....f***, poor girl.

Damn. The early days of NXT was one of my favourite times in WWE and she was a big part of that (annoyed Emma and Summer are gone too).
We may moan about some wrestlers getting too much too soon and burning through years worth of stories in months but this is a good reminder that careers can be short and they might not get those years. At least she crammed a lot into a too short career.

WELP They gonna include this in the movie? Nah, just in the stinger package for it. ...sorry, couldn't help myself. *** In all seriousness, this sucks. She barely had regained traction and this crap happens. Wrestling as long as she did with degenerative spinal condition that she has, her time was already going to be short-lived, I'm just glad she was able to at least come back to hear the crowd appreciation one last time instead of having this happen while in the dark period she had from 2016-2017. Hopefully Sasha also doesn't beat herself up about it too much either, as anyone could've been the one in that position.

I feel terrible for her. She's had a bad couple of years, and I wanted her to bounce back in a big way because I think she's extremely talented and her return showed a lot of promise.
Only 25 years old and her dream is snuffed out in an instant. It really f***ing sucks.

For everyone calling out the doctors, think about what their job is. These doctors are having to advise WWE on how serious a condition is and WWE has to make the decision not to use them. Paige has multiple spine and neck issues, then one messed up spot and lost feeling again, no doctor would clear her and even if she could, do you honestly think WWE would risk putting her in the ring? There is a massive difference between incompetence and giving out news people don't want to hear. Besides the CM Punk thing, have they ever really been incompetent? And that's assuming Punk is telling the entire truth.

I'll likely get heat for this, but given the dirtsheets track record of being wrong on Paige, until Paige or WWE itself says something like they did with Edge, I personally am not going to believe she's done as a wrestler.

I mean, she's just removed from being on the shelf for about a year and a half from a major neck injury and then almost immediately crumpling like paper and losing feeling in her limbs from a routine spot. It's not like this is remotely hard to believe.

Dirtsheets reported rumblings of the Edge news days before it was officially revealed too.

Absolutely sounds like an Edge situation, I'm not sure if he also had Cervical Scholosis but Paige has a naturally bad spine and recently suffered a neck injury. I hope that she just does what the WWE advises because once you lose feeling in your extremities then you're just finished.

Besides the CM Punk thing, have they ever really been incompetent? And that's assuming Punk is telling the entire truth. Their medical director, Joseph Maroon, has a history of being kind of a fraud in terms of his conclusions about concussions sustained in sports (specifically football) and their relationship to CTE. I'd be skeptical about anything he has to say concerning either of those, but I'm not sure about his or the other members of the WWE medical staff's credentials regarding spinal injuries. And in Paige's case, I don't blame WWE's doctors for erring on the side of caution. If the stuff about her injuries are true, I hope Paige doesn't risk a return to the ring with a scummier organization. Unlike with concussions and CTE where the issues develop more over the long term, if you're dealing with a spinal issue, one botch in the ring could land you in a wheelchair or worse for the rest of your life.

A lot of people's problems with Maroon come from the movie Concussion. Where as I said earlier even the Doctor who was the subject of the picture said they more or less made stuff up to make Maroon look more like a villain. Maroon has spent the majority of his career studying concussions and was one of the people that developed the impact test for concussions.
