variety.com/2018/film/news/disney-28-days-later-director-live-action-sword-in-the-stone-1202670646/Edit note: the address says 28 Days Later directo (Danny Boyle). But the website actually says it’s the director of 28 Weeks Later Juan Carlos Fresnadillo that’s actually involved Hopefully this will be a good Camelot movie. Funny that the best live action movie based on Arthurian legend is a god damn parody. The 80’s Excalibur movie was pretty good but never in a hurry to watch it again. I’m hoping they get Jim Broadbent to play Merlin. But knowing Disney they will probably want to get someone they can market. Oh please don’t be Johnny Depp.

Sword in the Stone was my absolute favorite film as a small child. I'm afraid I'll have to see this one way or another.
Granted, a really well done Sword in the Stone film could lead to a sequel to do a full Once and Future King film, which would be awesome. Technically the musical Camelot is based on the second half of the book, but a full on adaptation hasn't really been done, to my knowledge.

Hire as many GOT actors as possible and it will be a hit.

So...by which year should we expect for each movie from the Disney Animation canon to have a live-action remake?

Noticed the web address is a bit misleading .. it’s says 28 Days Later director..
Danny Boyle is not attached to this film. It’s actually 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo that’s in negotiations to direct.

Okay this one I'm okay with because I feel like the Sword in the Stone is otherwise pretty forgotten in the Disney Canon... and it was also one of my favorites growing up. The casting should be very interesting for this one.

Hope it's good. Baffling how many times King Arthur related movies have had the ball dropped. It should be the easiest thing in the world to make yet somehow people keep screwing it up.

I really liked the animated movie as a kid so I hope this turns out good. I expect they'll keep the squirrel section, but I hope with one change; they'll turn the girl squirrel human or have her human all along. It was surprisingly sad when she watched Wart become a boy again and leave her.

So...by which year should we expect for each movie from the Disney Animation canon to have a live-action remake? The Black Cauldron will get its in 2079.

I think The Sword in the Stone could work pretty well as a live-action movie. At least all the main characters are human so it wouldn't need too much insane CGI. That said, if they're not gonna change anything from the original, I just don't see the point in doing something like this.

They will probably add a female character.. probably a friend or love interest for Arthur.
Since the animated movie was a bit of a sausage fest. The only females were the villain Madam Mim, Sir Ector’s maid, and the two squirrels.

They're going to expand the story of the female squirrel and make it more sad and depressing
