I'm afraid of heights. So you can conclude that pretty easily. This is where things are strange with me.. I'm scared of heights, I can't go to the 3rd floor of a shopping centre or the Balcony of a theatre.. I'm a complete nervous wreck if I do. Yet I can look out a plane window no problem.. How that works I have no idea. I'm the same way. Take me to a high place or on a ladder and my legs turn to jelly and my hands start sweating, but on a plane that doesn't happen. Incidentally I used to be afraid of flying, but got over it after my trip to South Africa a few years ago. Three flights, clocking in at 20 hours total flight time really eased the issue.

I've only flown a few times in my life, but I've always been really chill about it. As long as proper safety measures are in place, heights in general just don't bother me.

I have been on a plane once, or twice if you count the flight back. I remember I was terrified of flying after having seen Final Destination. The fact that 9/11 happened six months prior didn't help either. I'll get on a plane, but I still have a fear of flying, but I think it has to do with the fact that I also have a fear of heights.

The first time I was going to be on an airplane, I was more nervous in the airport. When I actually got on the plane, I was fine

I cant stand to fly. I'm not that naive. I'm just out to find the better part of me. You're more than a bird. You're more than a plane.

If people were meant to fly, we'd have wings.

Occasional bouts of turbulence aside, I love flying. I wouldn't want to fly on a monthly basis, but I make sure to travel at least twice a year. My gripes mostly depend on the specific airlines and airports rather than flying in general. I'm not afraid of flying but I do hate it. No leg room, small bathroom, overpriced/overbooked, $4 can of pop Why are you being charged $4 for soda? It's supposed to be free. Why are you being charged $4 for soda? It's supposed to be free. Sounds like a Low Cost Airliner. Dunno what it's like State Side but here in Europe we have companies like Ryanair and EasyJet that give you cheap flights but charge you an arm and a leg for everything else.. Including snacks onboard. This, my flight maybe cheap, but they're cheap for a reason.

I’ve flown between the UK and US about forty times or so and though it doesn’t scare me, I’m not that big a fan of it. I like take-off, I like landing. It’s the eight hours in between that annoys me. I struggle to sleep on planes so I get bored easily and no matter how much stuff I take to read/play/listen to I still get a bit of cabin fever halfway through the flight.

Terrified of it, and won't do it because the next plane I get on will plummet out of the sky. It's irrational. But it is what it is. I'm glad I never have any reason to ever leave California.

Only when they hit some turbulence, otherwise I don't mind too much.

I love flying. There’s something so soothing about looking down on the landscapes. I can sleep through anything, so there’s that if it’s a long flight.

Also live in California. I flew a lot to Guatemala as a kid but once I got older I came to the conclusion plane crash was not one of the top 10 ways I wanted to go. So much that years ago when an ex wanted me to go to Wisconsin with her to meet her family, I convinced her that we should drive there instead :-P

this may sound a bit contradictory but , I am not afraid of turbulence or bad weather, also not afraid of take offs or landing - however my biggest fear of all is dying in a plane crash

The only parts of flying I don't like are the stresses of getting through the crowded security checks, and struggles of trying to get comfortable enough to sleep.
I love, love, love the feeling when the plane takes off, it gives me some sort of minor high.

I don't mind flying but can't stand turbulence. I get motion sickness really easy.

hey Kyn, if I may ask (and please don't feel pressured to answer, if you don't, it's cool ) why do you need to fly so much? Twice a month seems like a lot. Technically I don't need to; I do it BECAUSE I'm so afraid of flying (which I know sounds mad). If I avoid doing things I fear, I end up at a point where I can't do them even if I *have* to. I take short interstate trips by plane regularly so the fear doesn't end up overwhelming me when I have to fly for work (which I need to every so often). There was a time when I hadn't flown for a while, then when the time came where I needed to travel, I couldn't get on a plane for love or money, and that lasted a good three years. Wasting time on 12 hour bus trips to get places is no way to live your life. I keep hoping the repeated exposure will lessen the fear but it doesn't seem to be working. Reading the replies here it seems like people just either fear it or don't, there's no logic to it or magic bullet cure. Although I think there's something to what someone else said (sorry, I don't know how to quote more than one person in a post), the idea that if something does happen you have absolutely no control over it is the worst.

I’ve only had one or two bad experiences with flying, mostly because my ears wouldn’t pop no matter what I tried. Like the time my dad and I flew to Florida for spring training—the plane had XM Radio and I’m sure that having earbuds in screwed up my equilibrium. And I got pretty bored and restless on my flight back from England. I tried sleeping, reading, watching a movie, but nothing helped. It felt so good when we finally landed and I could stretch my legs.
Other than that, I love flying. Especially when the plane gets above the clouds and you just see a vast expanse of white and blue. It just seems so peaceful. And I know this will sound weird, but I like thumbing through the SkyMall magazine and looking at stuff that I know I will never buy.
