Not exactly blowing any minds here but it is amazing how terrible he was tonight. Even Cole and Graves seemed to want to punch his lights out after a couple hours and they're the last people who should be looking down on someone's job performance.

It’s a good think they call him Coach. Because his commentary isn’t first class.

He'd be fine on a pre-show panel, but commentary doesn't suit him.

He was lost out there. It takes alot to have Cole lead you around.

Like, I dig the Coach. Seriously. He's got a good wit & in a recap environment, he can be fun to listen to. I always looked forward to him guest hosting Mike & Mike back a few years.
The problem is... He sucks at wrestling commentary. This isn't new; they tried this for years in the 2000s on RAW where he couldn't maintain control & pissed off King & JR with his bunglings & lack of perception. On SmackDown, they actually considered having him getting beaten up each week due to how terrible he was. All in all, did he ever pay attention?
Tonight... Nothing changed with his delivery. He has no clue what character he is & is pointing out the obvious in the dumbest ways possible. Again, is he paying attention?
The metric of a good commentator has lowered due to Cole being a Yes Man, JBL being a dumb jock, & Byron being Byron. You try to jump that bar, not limbo it.
Ideally, I'd have him host a podcast or a weekly recap show for WWE where he has time to digest the media and then analyze it. This hasn't worked & never will.

I would honestly rather they hire a car door and have the car door do commentary every week. Jonathan Coachman is one step below a mute car door in terms of commentary ability, one step above a car door that listens to Ed Sheeran.

like, it was his first night back... Rust is expected. Not that he was ever great, but it was such a minor factor in the show imo.

Actually enjoyed Coach tonight. He was asking the right questions and making good observations. Unfortunately that means he'll soon be removed from commentary for the next buzzword-spouting chucklef*** that comes down the pike.

He is, but I still find him easier to ignore than Booker yelling over everything and saying ridiculous things that are impossible to ignore.

It's been one night, I'll give it more time. I do wish he had replaced Cole and Booker was still there though.

Yeah he has a place its just not commentary. Baffling decision to put him back there.

He'd be fine on a pre-show panel, but commentary doesn't suit him. On the thread I posted, I mentioned how he's more suited for analysis, but not live feedback.

Commentary was so banal tonight I honestly can't remember anything of note that was said by anybody.

That was everything I disliked about that era of WWE as a segment. Rock 'comedy' with Coach. Yeesh.

Just because he was on ESPN doesn't make the show more relevant..
