OR, you spend the next two years having Asuka vanquish all comers, while also building up Bayley, and then, at Wrestlemania in two years, you have Bayley dethrone Asuka in the main event of the show. It writes itself. It's really simple! Asuka just not losing for another 2 year sounds dreadful booking wise. Here is the big problem: You know how they went on about how the streak was 900+ days? That's bullshit. Most people do not watch NXT. There is a reason that Bayley or The Revival or whoever get tepid responses after a couple of weeks on the main roster. Because most people do not watch NXT. So, really, the "streak" was about 5 months long. That's nothing. It's so nothing that Asuka hasn't even won a belt! Why the f*** would a normal person see Asuka as this unstoppable machine if she is no different that anyone else that gets called up? Hell, why would a normal person see her "streak" as a bigger deal than, say, beating Alexa Bliss? At least Alexa has won a belt! Asuka hasn't done anything of note on the main roster and they expect the audience to act as if she is Goldberg after he already won the WCW title. If you want to act as if she is Goldberg after he already won the WCW title, you're going to have to actually show it.

I picked Charlotte to win because I figured the streak would end at Wrestlemania and no damn way Creative would protect her until next year. I could've lived without the post-match stuff.

Good match but, it was such an anticlimactic way of giving Asuka her first loss. Worse because Charlotte didn't even put the figure 8 on all the way.

My biggest issue is her losing to the last person that need sone. That they give ALL the accolades they can think of. Don't be surprised if she only loses the title in order to win the Rumble next year and win it back at WrestleMania New York.

Charlotte didn't need it, but I think more damningly, the story didn't deserve it. Charlotte and Asuka spent the past two months on opposite shows not interacting at all with each other until the go-home Smackdown. There was literally nothing of substance to that feud at all. They built nothing. It'd be like Goldberg's streak ending on a random match on a B PPV. Just completely squandered what had gone on for so long and ended up doing almost nothing to make Charlotte look good, because she was already the most decorated woman on the roster. They had Asuka vacate the NXT Women's Title just so she could go use that streak to put over and make someone else, and they made someone who was already 100% made.

Not surprised at all that Charlotte ended Asuka's streak. I thought it would happen before Asuka debuted & after she debuted, but as time went on, I started thinking it less & less, even after the match was made official, I thought Asuka would most likely win...but, I still had my doubts & wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte won. So yeah, not surprised, just disappointed 😞

Never thought I'd say this but I honestly would've preferred Rousey.

Asuka should have won here, held the title until Summerslam where she loses it to Ember Moon who finally brings down Asuka after being the only person who came the closest.
That's storytelling, and Ember gets the rub that Charlotte didn't need.
I can't gripe enough about how the end was just booked poorly. If Asuka had to lose, there were more ways to do it to make her look like she fought and fought til she succumbed to defeat, not "ope, she lost".

Also what should be taken into account is how she lost Asuka in NXT was consumed why her winning streak that she cheated against Moon twice in order not to lose against her but in this match against Charlotte she didn't do anything underhanded or come across as desperate to keep her streak alive I predicted Charlotte winning and really had no problem with it but it could have been better

I am kind of glad in a way that Asuka lost. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for her, but the streak had become a bit of an albatross, in the same way that Neville the CW champ was, or Okada with the IGWP title has kinda become. It eventually gets hard to get invested in matches that there's just little chance of them losing. Asuka has a f***ton of credibility, has a ton of fans, and the streak really wasn't doing anything for her it hasn't already.
That, and it wasn't Rousey beating her, thank christ.

Am very surprised as I thought for the first 3 or 4 years of the woman's RR they would book the winner to win the title at WM but can see the logic in removing the streak at such a big event and not wanting to wait for a year.

I'm interested to see where they go with Asuka. 1 of 2 things will happen. Either she'll become more intense and focused thereby destroying everyone in her path worse than before or she's gonna get 50-50d to the point where she'll lose to the corpse of Moolah.

I said in a couple other threads that if it went down like this: Charlotte locks in Figure 8 with one arm. Asuka eventually escapes. Asuka locks in Asuka lock. Charlotte fights and fights and escapes. Charlotte locks in Figure 8 again, this time using both arms. Maybe Asuka gets close to the ropes and Charlotte drags her back to the middle. Draw it out, make it like Ember fighting out of Shayna's choke the first time they faced off. Then have Asuka lose. If you had to go that route. Another 5 minutes and putting Asuka over as someone who went down valiantly would have done her wonder. I would have liked it a bit more. You spent over 2 years building someone up as a world beater, only for them to fall like this. I know a lot of people are saying we're mad b/c Asuka lost. Yes, I'm unhappy and think it was the wrong decision, but I'm actually mad at HOW she lost. And this is coming from someone that loves Charlotte as much as Asuka. It was less "No, not now!" and more "No, not like this!" But given she didn't even get a full theme song entrance with the beginning, and Charlotte got extra beginning with elaborate staging, I had a bad feeling.

Undefeated streaks have a shelf life. It keeps whoever holds it from being screwed out a win by shady means and severely limits what can and cannot be done for match finishes. Wrestlemania was the place to do it and have it feel big. Had they waited for next year, with Asuka being undefeated for 1,300 days, it'd have worn out its welcome. Especially if the person who has the streak also has the title. Not saying that Asuka should be eating pins left, right, and center from now on. But some unpredictability will be added to her matches.

Good match, good storytelling. The injured arm and the figure 8 was up there with Baszler grabbing her hair because of her shoulder.

I was devastated when she lost but in the light of day it's maybe not the worst thing that the Streak has gone, it was becoming something of an albatross as someone else mentioned, like her one defining thing, when she's so much more than an undefeated streak. Now she can just be an ass-kicker.

It was obvious, they want to build Charlotte vs Rousey.
The post match was offensive.

The commentary ruined the ending. The streak is finally broken and they're just like "oh...gee, she broke the streak...look at that....well anyway up next is.." It didn't feel like a big deal at all
Also when Asuka grabbed the mic afterwards was god awful. Why do they even let her talk? "CON GRAD U LATIONS!" WTF? That was the dumbest thing ever and sounded ridiculous. Her and Nakamura should both have managers who talk for them because their mic skills are pretty much non-existent.

Charlotte is the only viable full time option other than possibly Kairi, but it is very likely to be Rousey. I don't mind it being Charlotte, but I wish it had been more climactic.

You know, ya coulda saved her immortality while building someone who needs it if you gave that to Carmella, dicks.
Seriously, have her hiding under the ring since the battle royal waiting to blindside her.
