I apologize if this thread has been beaten into the ground, I didn't see a similar one on a search, but I'm wondering if any of you think another trio of Star Wars movies will ever be made?
I tend to lean towards yes, only because each movie is pretty much guaranteed to make $300 million, even if they don't quite live up to expectations. That's almost a billion dollars on the table just waiting to be made. I doubt many movie studios would allow that much money to just pass them by.
Even if they have to wait for Lucas to die 20-30 years from now, I'm betting these movies get made.

Maybe not a trilogy at this point, but I think everyone's excited about the upcoming TV series, which will basically be, IMHO, expanded universe 101.

I'm hoping they (that is to say Lucas) doesn't make 3 more movies, specifically 7,8, and 9. I'd rather not have the Expanded Universe ruined, a Star Wars Universe without Grand Admiral Thrawn is not a Universe I want to live in. If more Star Wars movies must be made, they should be set in the Old Republic Universe like a 1,000 years before ANH, that way "history" wouldn't be ruined.

Or several hundred years into the future of the SW Universe. That would be cool.

That might be possible. From what I understand, the entire series won't revolve around a single storyline with specific characters. Instead, each episode will stand on its own and focus as a sort of origin story for one character or another. So far, the only specific one I know that's been confirmed is an episode revolving around Boba Fett that takes place between Attack of the Clones and the Holiday Special. Hence, perhaps there will be some KotOR episodes featuring the origin of Yoda, for example.

Lucas has gone on record multiple times to say there will not be a 7-9 made while he is alive. The only way it gets done is if someone, somehow, gets permission from the Lucas estate after he goes and makes it then. But as long as Lucas is still kickin' ... 7-9 are in novel form; they're called "Heir To The Empire", "Dark Force Rising" and "The Last Command".
Jed Shaffer ~Timothy Zahn>George Lucas.

Yeah...if they did it I would want it to be completely new characters and stories. You can only rehash the Skywalkers for so long.

This guys a tool. I was a HUGE Star Wars mark there for a while, around the time the prequels were being done. He does have some facts in there, but there hidden by all the cowdung he has on his site. All his "exclusives" that never happen. He claimed to have a completed script of episodes 2 and 3, personall from Lucas, before each came out....none of which was anywhere close to the story. If you want some accurate SW info, got to Theforce.netI read awhile back, that while Lucas said he wasnt going to do anymore movies, if he did, it would either focus on a young Yoda or be set around the time of the formation of the Republic. Granted, I'll bet neither one of these see the light of day.

She sad, "that guy has NO idea what it's like to carry around even ONE!" Well DUH. ;D

She sad, "that guy has NO idea what it's like to carry around even ONE!" Well DUH. ;D My wife was pregnant with twins, and yes, your friend is correct. But there's a good way to fight back: "Leia's a Jedi. She has the Force." *SPOILER ALERT* All three of these have been done. The first one was the basis for the Jedi Academy trilogy, Jaina and Jacen's training is an ongoing thing, and Coruscant is razed in the New Jedi Order series. Jed Shaffer ~The Force? Man, that's your answer for everything!
