The funny thing is! i always saw how things went down in buu saga, very wrestling like. Cell saga was pretty much a torch pass moment, a young star Gohan is gonna be the star now! but nope. he's not over, so let's bring Goku back Hey now, Goku tried his damnest to get Gohan over. He jobbed to Cell TWICE so that Gohan could get his big DBZ moment. And you know what? Gohan dun blew it. Dude got lazy and wanted to focus on other projects. He had it coming. Gohan didn't get put over. Right at the last point of the Cell Games, Goku had to come in and steal the spotlight, showing that 'Gohan wasn't ready' even though it was Goku who made sure that all the attention was on him. And then he got Gohan involved a bunch of comedy angles with the Great Saiyaman stuff, rather than being a threat to deal with on his own. Gohan was sabotaged from day on so Goku could come back for the glory.

Also, are we going to just ignore the roster wide senzu addiction that keeps getting swept under the rug?

But the thing is, at least in regards to the Saiyans, it's most definitely a performance enhancer. Saiyans get several times stronger every time they are defeated in battle. That kind of shit would get them barred from any other anime.

okay, there's been some differing opinions in here, but there is one thing i think we can all agree on: Mr. Satan deserved a run as the top guy. i mean sure he didn't have the work rate of Goku or the flashy flippy-flop moves of that spot monkey Future Trunks, but he was a solid old school worker and one of the best promos in the biz. you know anyone else who could talk the fans into the arena like ol' Herc could? but oh no, that type of style ain't in with today's casual fans, so we'll just make him a comedy jobber. he could've had a great reign if they just gave him the ball and let him run with it!

Eh, I think he works better as the manager for (Fat) Majin Buu. Though why they turned BUU into a comedy act is beyond me.

They tried repackaging him several times, some even just the same look with a different jacket, and the crowd never took. And don’t get me started on the Kid version. Dude was apparently a nightmare backstage.

Writer: Okay, we're going to do Dragon Ball GT and we want the Pan to be the star. The fans want a child to be the main character.
Goku: Pan's not good enough. Turn me into a kid and make me the star.

I know it's easy to complain about Goku but at least he sometimes made his opponents looks good. That Pikachu guy though? Always goes over and never let's any mon near his spot.

I'm just thankful they were able to get Future Trunks back for one more match. Do you think they'll try to write him back in? Gokou looked like he had a blast working that angle

Yamcha is the Zack Ryder of DBZ That would mean he's actually won matches, wouldn't it? I thought he was Curt Hawkins

Yamcha was always more interested in playing softball than fighting and would disappear for months at a time. he has nobody to blame for his lack of a push but himself.
so if Goku is Hogan, does that make Krillin Ed Leslie?

We all knew how unhappy he was in his original face run. Having to run second place to Goku. He pushed hard for that heel turn to Majin Vegeta. I had head that they didn't want to do it, but Babidi quit and they had to write him out. He loved being back as a heel, too bad it was short-lived. I don't know if Goku pulled creative control, but old Geets turned on Buu and went back to Goku's second pretty quickly.

You say that but Vegeta being held down by Goku has been going on for years. People have been asking for a Vegeta main event run for what feels like forever but he's always the bridesmaid, never the bride, making sure that Goku looks strong at the end instead of being the top guy himself. Vegeta's feud with Freeza was a much longer build than Goku's and had way more heat, Vegeta should have gone over Golden Freeza to finally get the win, but once again, Goku insists he's not ready brother so we get a Dusty Finish instead, LolGokuWins. Terrible booking, and at this stage, Vegeta's been full on Ziggler'd. Not to mention what the hell happened to 18? She debuts as an absolute killer heel, has a great face turn, but after jobbing to Cell she's stuck as the valet for Brutus The Barber Krillin. Obviously Goku giving his less over buddies a rub at the expense of much better talent. I know it's easy to complain about Goku but at least he sometimes made his opponents looks good. That Pikachu guy though? Always goes over and never let's any mon near his spot. This is totally unfair on Pikachu. At the height of his overness, when Pokemania was running wild everywhere, Pikachu jobbed clean to f***ing Bellsprout. If that's not giving another talent a shot I don't know what is, it's not Pikachu's fault that Bellsprout switched up his gimmick to Victreebel and became a comedy jobber.
