Last year, they seemed to imply that Roman retired the Undertaker. Then it seemed like WWE reneged on that and now we have the Wrestlemania dream match between him and Cena. There is no bigger star of this decade and generation than Cena. So if Undertaker's retirement match is going to be made as a big deal, Cena is the fitting opponent. Plus, he is last match wasn't with Roman, the guy WWE is pushing as the next top star, then there is no one else worthy of Taker to face post Cena.
It would be fitting if win or lose at Mania, Taker comes out on the next night Raw, announces his retirement, and that closes the show.

I have no doubt we'll see a partly cybernetic Undertaker in the ring some day.

I have no doubt we'll see a partly cybernetic Undertaker in the ring some day. He's got an artificial hip now, so we'll see it this year.

Should have called it quits after the streak ended.

If for no other reason than the guy is superhuman, so if Taker's not up to it, Cena can pretty much deadlift him into any spots. He can carry Taker in the most literal sense.

I hope so.
This is a match fans have wanted to see for years. Do the match and bow out. Hopefully for Taker's sake if this is his last match it will be great.

Thing is, Taker has had a hip replacement, and Cena is pushing 41, now a part timer and has one eye on Hollywood. Having said that, there isn't a dude I would trust more to get a Plus 3.5 star match out of the Deadman and get that match over than Jern.

Should have called it quits after the streak ended. End of an Era match. FTFY. It was the perfect end for Taker, ending it in a Hell in a Cell match with two of his biggest rivals doing everything they can to end his streak. All of the matches beyond that (from CM Punk @ 29 onwards) had terrible build-up and only tarnished his legacy.

I don't know why it has surprised me. This is classic, "Loser Leaves Town Match/Someone Wants To Face Him/Immediate Retcon And Wrestler Is Back" stuff. However, with Taker... really hoped he'd be a one retirement guy like Shawn Michaels. Now, granted... the popular opinion is him being the American Badass character, or at least closer to Mark Callaway than the Deadman for this match. Meaning there is a chance this has always been the plan... last year retired the gimmick, this year retires the man, win or lose. If that's the case, then I'll freely admit I've been worked and was played like a fiddle. But, Taker coming out as the Deadman at RAW 25 flies in the face of that logic....
Then again, part of me feels like his appearance on RAW 25 was supposed to be his retirement speech. However, doing it in character really limits what can be said so it came off as really confusing. So do this match, have him retire as the American Badass, so he can act more natural and human, then call it good.
However, at this rate.... we might as well start speculating on who he'll face next year and the year after that.... artificial hip or not... even if that IS the dumbest idea that you could present.

I think Taker and Cena will be better than anyone expects, it's not like the Roman situation where Taker is working with a (relative) rookie.
Cena and Taker would be able to get a great crowd reaction without having to do much of anything.

Last year was the first time I believed he was done, ever. I always thought he would be unable to resist.
I now won't believe it until he dies.

If they treat this as more of a brawl than a match, he’ll be fine. I do think this is the last story for Taker to tell though.

Just old school Taker it. It’s not like Taker did much from 90-94 or so. Certainly he can still do that.
But he’s likely gonna be the UnderBiker and Kid f***ing Rock will play him to the ring.

He better come back as ABA/Biker/himself, otherwise it will look mad corny if he’s doing the dead man stuff while Shooty McShooterson is doing his typical Russo BATB 2000 impersonation.
