I can just imagine how bad it will be when michaud tries to gather new talent for the site. Since it'll be the bottom of the barrel talent who don't care where they work, they will either be clones of popular channel awesome alumni (especially Doug),people who only yell, or really bland. Of course none of them will be funny. If by miraculous chance they do get one person with talent, you can bet that as soon the person gets enough subscribers on youtube, they'll bounce faster than a check written by Paul Heyman. I want them all to have obvious ripoff names. The Snobby Cinephile, Sinkara, Jeylous, Manga Retreat, Tad in the Darkness. Sinkara He is a Man! Point! Ok, so I just checked Doug's facebook page and it still says "worked at Channel Awesome". By now someone in his circle of friends and family had to have told him what it says and what kind of speculation it's causing, and he hasn't bothered to change it. So he's either intentionally trolling us, or he's genuinely left Channel Awesome and doesn't want to and/or can't make an official statement about it.

The entire deal going on might be affecting it (it's still getting views, so it's hard to identify exactly how much). I doubt the speculation over whether he's left or not based on a default FB work-history option is affecting too much, to be honest. It seems more like the type of wild speculation that always happens during things like this. Whether he's left seems like rumor generation to keep the story fresh and to draw hits for other Youtubers, because the evidence behind it isn't strong at all. Hell, at this point, it may even draw more hits to the page just so people can see if its true. |

Like, I get where they are coming from, but people have been harassing JewWario's widow, at least one of the Jane Does, and former friends. It isn't ideal, but I do at least get why CA didn't say why he was fired. Waiting to fire him is indefensible, but they couldn't go to authorities without victims corroborating, and had this stuff come out while he was alive, the harassment would have actually likely been much worse.
Gamergaters would have eaten this shit up with a knife and fork. It would have been their dream scenario to wreak havoc with.

Nah, they're likely done. Even if there was some explanation they could give (which there isn't) and even if there was an apology solid enough to soothe the laundry list of grievances (which there also isn't), their reputation is tarnished. What sponsor could Doug get? What audience would trust him? I could be wrong here, but I don't see a way back. His latest episode of NC has been on Youtube for only two days - after even the worst of the revelations came out - and has already garnered nearly 450,000 views. Unless it's a super-blockbuster like Star Wars, his regular episodes generally stall around $6-800,000. He hasn't lost nearly the fanbase people think he has. The question is; how many like just him versus those that followed Channel Awesome? If they preferred Doug, more than likely they may look at this & go "So what?" |

The question is; how many like just him versus those that followed Channel Awesome? If they preferred Doug, more than likely they may look at this & go "So what?" People who watch the channel for him, Tamara, etc, who never kept up with affiliates, some of them may not even know about this. I've actually been asked by a handful of people, even now, what all is going on. If someone doesn't ever read comments, and those people exist, then there's a decent chance they could be ignorant of it for quite a while. |
