Honestly? They're only doing this so he'll sign a new deal. There is absolutely no way they'll let him make an actual return to the ring. It'll be like a Brock/Angle deal, where they let him work five or six matches a year. I've been saying this on Youtube and Facebook whenever the topic comes up, but WWE do not want him back in the ring, period. But letting him return on their terms is the safest thing they can do. If he went back to ROH or New Japan, he'd be in a wheelchair or worse within a couple of months. At least this way, WWE can control the content of his matches and restrict what he can do in the ring. Happy for D-Bry, and happy with WWE for saving the man's life.

I really wonder what kind of ripple effect this will have at least in WWE. Like Christian, WWE retired him for concussions while he felt he could still go, does he start taking the same route Bryan did to get cleared and what happens if he gets the clearance but WWE says no. Corey Graves, does he look at this and want at least one more match? WWE doing this I think has to raise a few eyebrows.
