Even worse - Big Johnny was given Gowen's phone number! The more stories I hear about Big Johnny, the more I wonder how he kept his job. Hearing Cornette and Prichard talk about Laurinaitis there's three factors that determine his employment. He has a nice smile He looks great in a suit But above all, he's a gigantic stooge.

As a guy who has followed the CFL many times in the past I have no idea how I never heard about this. I believe it was the Buffalo Sabres who drafted someone who didn’t exist. It wasn’t incompetence though. Back when they did it, the NHL draft was done by conference call and things could get tedious. So the GM announced he’d drafted a player Japan. He kept the ruse up all the way to training camp, before telling anyone. Yes, it was the Sabres. The fake goalie he named Tajaro Fujimoto or something like that.

They said since where he’s from money has no real value, there’s nothing to buy, they were paying half his contract in fish. Though I can’t find evidence of that story, so it may just be a dream I had.

As thankless a task as talent relations is, he was either in charge of it or was the #2 from 2001 until HHH took over the role in 2011. The fact that few people have had a bad word to say about how HHH runs things in 7 years compared to the whole decade Big Johnny did is proof enough at how bad he was at it. Doubly so when you consider just how easy a target for criticism HHH actually is.

All the negative stories I've seen hinge on one key trait, that he seemingly couldn't be honest with people and tell them they weren't getting renewed etc. JR is disliked by some for hiring his boys, having his favourites and perhaps being too blunt. Prichard has said in interviews he found it tough because you have to deliver bad news. Hunter has largely escaped it. Maybe having been an active worker even with a few extra layers of protection mean he understands better how to deal with ones. Additionally he's involved in the structure of the company so he is able to make firm offers and promises at a guses. Johnny would say one thing and do another in a lot of accounts and stooge off guys who were upset by that or threatened his position (or were perceived to bensure that).

Since he got demoted from that job and hasn't been doing anything of note with the company speaks as to how awful and mediocre he is.

So that’s why my Google alert for “dildo blender” was blowing up.

He does have a pretty good reputation as a road agent, which is what he's been doing the last few years. He was reportedly the road agent in charge of the Cena vs. Styles matches.

It made my day when I found out the Great Khali/Big Show lumbering kaiju backstage fight was actually true. Complete with Show slipping on a gym bag and being restrained by someone sitting on his head.
It was such a random, batshit crazy, couldn't-possibly-be-real newz story when it was first reported, but Show himself corroborated every detail.
