.... ...you know what was a really good cartoon? Animaniacs. To be serious, this is genuinely upsetting to hear. I had issues with John K's attitudes in the past regarding modern cartoons, but this is a far more troubling situation than just debating the merits of drawings. That's basically the extent to which I had known about him, that he came off as being really pretentious. If only that was as bad as it got.

Seems now there is a few exes of John K claiming they seen CP on John K's computer. Also keep seeing references to the creator of Ranma 1/2 being busted for CP recently. Rurouni Kenshin, you're thinking of, not Ranma 1/2. Rumiko Takahashi has not been busted for CP, to my knowledge, thank Christ. Nobuhiro Watsuki is the Rurouni Kenshin creator, and was arrested for possession and if I remember, did not deny it and freely admitted it when caught. Thank you. Sorry I got the names mixed up. Yeah I had heard that the creator had freely admitted to owning it when caught. Crazy crazy stuff. This makes me wonder if Chris Gore knew about the John K stuff. Back when John K got fired from Ren and Stimpy Chris Gore and K got real close. And Most issues of Gore's animation mag had stuff supporting John K and Spumco.

Glad it wasn't Bob Camp.
When I saw the headline as "Ren and Stimpy creator" my heart sank, but then I saw it was John K and was like "oh yeah, that makes sense."
Nothing bad's ever come out about Bob Camp, right? I know he's been anti-John K since '92.
But yeah, utterly ghasty account from the victims there. f*** John K, and f*** whoever wrote that "apology" and tried to shift blame on f***ing teenagers to his "mental illness." Just further stigmatizing a group of people in order to not take responsibility. Scumbag.

I'm shocked that a man who worshipped, idolized and was mentored by a thieving psychopath would turn out to be like that. Bakshi or Clampett? Already clarified, but Clampett...dude was a thief and liar, and some of the "pranks" he pulled on co-workers would rank right up there with some of the worst ribs in wrestling.

His perversion wasn't exactly new. According to some people, he was obsessive over doing a series about horny Catholic School girls.
Think "Kentucky Fried Movie" without the obvious satire.

I didn’t see anything about it on his Wiki and Google doesn’t immediately bring up relevant results for it.

I didn’t see anything about it on his Wiki and Google doesn’t immediately bring up relevant results for it. Clampett had a habit of peeing in people's drinks (usually beer) if they left one unattended. He also heated up coins until they were nearly melting and dropped them on people walking by from a rooftop. Those are the two I can quickly recall, but the rest are pretty much in the range between the first and latter.

Not too inventive with the peeing in the drinks, but that coin thing sure is a new one to me.

Didn't see that earlier... actually hadn't heard that about Clampett before, but I had heard some rumours about Bakshi being an oddball, although nothing more than that.

While the artwork kind of looks like his, I doubt he'd make a drawing praising a toy-based show.

Well count me surprised on Clampett. I guess that may be one of the reasons Chuck Jones didn't include him as one of Bugs' dads in one of the 80s Looney Tunes movie.

They despised one another, and Jones felt Clampett took too much credit for his involvement in creating Bugs, so yeah, he was deliberately slighting him there. (Though, some like Tex Avery were more sympathetic to Clampett, I guess.)

Shows your parents are always right. Mine never outright stopped me from watching, but definitely were never sure if Ren and Stimpy was something they should be allowing me to watch. They thought it was too weird. He sounds like a real piece of shit.

And now seeing footage of the dude in this thread I'm like "yep. Seems like he'd create it".

The scene that was made for The Simpsons episode "Brother From The Same Planet" was enough for me to go "Nah!" even though John K. didn't make it. Now, the opening segment on THOH XXVII, however, was his.

Ren & Stimpy was one of my favorites when I was a kid. It's a shame that I now have to know it was created by a monster. Join the club. John K was a genius when it came to drawing and bringing to life a cartoon, and a truly abominable human being. There is one episode of Ren & Stimpy, created after he left, which consisted of scenes based on real life incidents involving John K. Which episode was that again? I think I watched it after I found out about that before, but I’m drawing a blank now.
