(language) This video features one of the women who are accusing him, and her mannerisms tell the story. The body language of the girl there reminds me of a clip I saw of then 14 year old Coleen Nolan when Jimmy Saville had his arm around her during a TV appearance.

Shows your parents are always right. Mine never outright stopped me from watching, but definitely were never sure if Ren and Stimpy was something they should be allowing me to watch. They thought it was too weird. He sounds like a real piece of shit. Didn't need my parents, as a kid I "Nope'd" the f*** out of watching it. Way too weird for me. And now seeing footage of the dude in this thread I'm like "yep. Seems like he'd create it". My grandmother and mom were on the fence about Ren & Stimpy, but they watched the first few episodes with me and eventually they relented. It was Beavis and Butthead that was banned for a while in our house, though by the time I turned ten they were fine with it. I LOVED R&S when I was a kid. Even if John K himself rubbed me the wrong way often with his "all cartoons that aren't made by Hanna Barbera or Bob Clampett or myself automatically suck" rants, the show consistently made me laugh before and after Nickelodeon fired him. I still have some of the Ren and Stimpy comics Marvel published for a brief period, so this whole situation has bummed me out as an animation fan. Still, what's left of his legacy is a minor issue next to what he put his victims through, and it's stomach churning to ponder on how long this was occurring. If you haven't checked out Katie Rice's webcomic "Camp Weedonwancha", you should because it's hilarious.

Clampett had a habit of peeing in people's drinks (usually beer) if they left one unattended. He also heated up coins until they were nearly melting and dropped them on people walking by from a rooftop. Those are the two I can quickly recall, but the rest are pretty much in the range between the first and latter. And the Eisner awards have their "humanitarian" award named after him? This is, of course, not including his thievery, which included absconding with original model sheets from Warner Bros, erased the original artists' names and signed them himself, passing himself off as the creator or co-creator of a number of characters he had no hand in.

Join the club. John K was a genius when it came to drawing and bringing to life a cartoon, and a truly abominable human being. There is one episode of Ren & Stimpy, created after he left, which consisted of scenes based on real life incidents involving John K. Which episode was that again? I think I watched it after I found out about that before, but I’m drawing a blank now. Reverend Jack.

I think it speaks volumes that even peers of his who tried to defend him, at best, could only paint him as "exaggerating" his contributions, or speaking in too general of terms. Even they can't pretend he didn't take credit for shit he never did.

A bit late, but I thought I'd share this, Billy West ranted but bad about John K rant as a response to a posting on his message board back in the mid-2000's, though it's not there anymore, but here are the most of the words via wayback machine: Fan: {Spoiler}Hello!
I'm a little nervous here, as I think you are the best, Billy!
I don't know how one set of vocal chords can be twisted and gyrated in such a way as to sound like pretty much any one (or thing) but I guess you worked your arse off for that!
My question is about Ren and Stimpy, and the fall out you had with John K.
When Ren and Stimpy was popular in aussie, we didn't have access to the Internet, so I heard very little about exactly what the problems John had with nickelodeon.
I always hear how he was robbed, etc. I think he's an absolute genius, and that opinion will never change, even if he is a bit hard to work with (this is second hand info, as Its not like I've met the man!).
Why was he fired? Why do you two not get along? (or even hate each other, as I read something about him on this board posted by you, that didn't sound like the happy Billy West from the Futurama commentaries!) Is there any chance of a reconciliation?
We haven't gotten the new Ren and Stimpy out here yet, but I'm sure that you don't play Stimpy this time. Who plays him? I haven't seen a single ep from that show, and am dying to see it!
What if a Ren and Stimpy DVD were released of all the old shows you did with John K? Would you sit down with him and do the commentary?
Personally, I buy those Futurama DVD's so I can hear you guys taking the piss on those commentary tracks! Laughing at your own jokes, and even throwing a zoidberg or fry into the commentary!
That's what make my DVD's priceless!
I hope you reconcile with John K one day, as it is childish to hold a grudge like that, in my opinion (not knocking you, mate!)
What was John K like? I know you'll probably say some mean things, but what about when you guys first started working together? You must have had some laughs back then!
I hope you reply! West's response, a bit of language: {Spoiler}SBach,
Thanks for your compliment! I'd like to tell you to refer to old posts of mine explaining my feelings on this eternal pain in the balls topic. I also called a moratorium on any more discussions about R&S. You seem diplomatic and mean well but things I am about to tell you are not ''mean'' they are truths about this situation.
''Genius'' is the twin brother of madness--both live in a world created by their own EGO. When I go to work for someone I NEVER bring my personal problems to the arena. The creators of most of the shows I've done don't seem to do that either. John K. wasn't a ''little bit difficult'' to work with. He was darn near impossible to work with.
His abuse of actors including myself is legendary and was not so much about the search for perfection---it was about borderline sadism and control. His whole fixation with hell dads and boys and torture and punishment...well, I've made millions and millions of people laugh but I don't get what's funny about endless repetitions of that crap that he dotes on. There's a difference between cries for help and comedy.
The ''new'' R&S; is a total trainwreck. It's not just bad, it's giga-bad. On every level. On a sane planet, people like him would be put into a cage and they'd charge money to let people poke sticks at him. At this point, he's more of a genius at failure than he is at anything else.
You won't be getting the ''new'' R&S because it started taking on water in the 1st one by betraying the fans and finally it was gonzo after 3 episodes----breaking his original record of being dispatched after 6 shows in the 1st R&S. Wow! Robbed!! What a nasty world this is.
He is ALWAYS fired for the same reason. Late delivery of episodes. Why can everybody else live up to their deadlines, but not Mr.Victim?? Think about it. Why is he ALWAYS the victim? It's TNN's fault, it's Nick's fault, it's Spike's fault. Losers do that. It's an old loser trick to blame everybody else so you don't have to take responsibility for YOUR failure.
But I forgot, ''geniuses'' who act like petulant 5 year olds don't have to take responsibility for anything. How could anyone dare expect that from him? This is where we get to witness the phenomenon of ''genius'' morphing into hapless sociopath. Now, out march the ''genius's'' little helpers who've been called upon to prove their loyalty and mindlessly defend their dopey hero with the feet of clay.
The guy wouldn't get off my back for years after he got fired from Nick. He actually though that he could get everybody that was doing the show to go with him! I got one attack after another in public by John K. and his thimble full of worshipers. Ultimately, he let them all down. They bet on the wrong horse and they don't know whether to shit or go blind and they feel stupid.
And when you feel that stupid, you get even more angry and lash out at everything. Folks, these are loser's losers. They lost and don't even know they lost. Or why. I didn't want to see the bloody thing fail. I just wouldn't do it because I think he's a crackpot. He should go out and do anything he wants.
There was no happy sounding Billy West during that time. I had some laughs after J.K. was out. If there was any fun it was then. It was nothing like Futurama in any way, shape or form. It's easy for you JS Bach to think of John as some kind of hero because you weren't there. He may seem all cute and brilliant and rascally and misunderstood from a distance ''aw--what the hell, why can't you guys be friends?'' But guys like him and his disciples can cause a lot of damage up close.
Spreading lies, telling select excerpts of the truth. His right hand imbecile made a statement about how I didn't do the new R&S; because I ''wouldn't take direction''. I've worked with every director in the biz and I take direction with not a single problem! I'm known for it! What Spumcotology left out was that I didn't do the show because I had NO interest in it.
What I did say was, ''If I ever did the show I would not do 120 takes of a particular type of scream. 4 times maybe 5 but that's it. After that it's abusive.'' But no, it gets twisted into ''I wouldn't take direction. ''That's a remark I may sue over because it is damaging to my work and reputation. I could actually lose work over an untrue, reckless statement like that. The typical handiwork of ''Big Shot''.
I sorta' know who does Stimpy. It wasn't good enough for him to do the gig. No, he decided to f*** with me and stupidly gave himself away under one of many of his cowardly fake names. This (by the way) is a full grown man who's doing these things. He was desperately trying to make sure I knew who the guy that replaced me was. And what good job he's doing and then trying to bait me into a ''critique'' of it.
He even said that he read that the new guy wishes I was back on the show. Oh, he did the whole ''I'm not me posting on your site'' over-compensating routine complete with comically bad sentence structure, keyboard with letters missing etc. I felt so sorry for him. Now, he has no voice-over career.
'Big Shot'' was already hailing this dope and his anemic (at best) impression of me as the guy that would make the world forget that I did Stimpy's voice. And then this likening me to Bill Costello (the original voice of Popeye) and the guy who replaced me ''Big Shot'' compares to Jack Mercer (the guy who actually became famous for going on to the end as Popeye). My replacement was the one to do 3 episodes. How does that make him Jack Mercer? How drunk is that?
3 episodes doesn't qualify you for a place in the hall of fame. I hope there's a hall of fame for idiots that make ignorant comparisons. Your rightful place is waiting, ''Big Shot'’. I'm real good at what I do. You're not very good at what you do ''Big Shot" are you ''Big Shot?'' When it comes to this subject ''Big Shot'' you are about as interesting as you are formidable. And way the hell out of your depths with me ''Big Shot.''
Oh BTW ''Big Shot'' guess who the official voice of Popeye is now? Good thing I didn't have to audition against your boy huh? I woulda' lost. Guess they forgot to call him.
I'm very sorry JS Bach that you had to walk into this, but you did ask me. I can't tailor the truth to accommodate their fantasies. Please believe me none of this was directed at you and I hope I didn't scare you off. Post anytime you like. R&S is DOA and if it ever does come back outta' the bathtub like Glenn Close in ''Fatal Attraction'', I still will not work with John K. He is not my God.

Oh man, this is late too, but I JUST realized something. Years ago, I heard the DVD commentary track for some Ren and Stimpy episodes, and it was John K and... some lady Id never heard of. It was the worst thing I've ever heard: He was constantly talking about her body and how she wanted to have sex with him when they first met. She was desperatey trying to do the "cool chick" thing... the "Oh yeah, I'm not like those other girls who'd get offended by your political incorrectness!" but she was also clearly miserable and it made me extremely uncomfortable.
I JUST realized that of course that was Katy Rice.

Sorry for the double post, but his apology has caused a backlash: www.cartoonbrew.com/artist-rights/ren-stimpy-creator-john-kricfalusis-apology-triggers-backlash-from-victims-158358.html‘Ren & Stimpy’ Creator John Kricfalusi’s Apology Triggers Backlash From Victims By Amid Amidi | 05/13/2018 7:13 pm | 22 On Friday, Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi published an apology on his Facebook page in response to a story published in Buzzfeed last March that detailed a romantic relationship with a teenaged girl and other accusations of sexual harassment and abuse. In the 11-page letter, which Kricfalusi says he first wrote a draft around the time of the Buzzfeed piece but was advised not to publish, he apologizes to the two people profiled in the exposé, Robyn Byrd and Katie Rice, while denying parts of the Buzzfeed article. “There is some general truth in it,” he writes, “some things I remember somewhat differently, some not at all. The writer exaggerated and presented some things out of context for tabloid consumption.” The letter then takes an unexpected turn, in which Kricfalusi spends six pages reminiscing about the good memories he has of Byrd, who he started a relationship with at the age of 16, and Rice, with whom he never had a physical relationship but spent years pursuing, including when she was an employee of his now-defunct Spumco. He then follows with apologies to his fans, supporters, and family, and offers praise for his former co-workers. In another controversial section of the letter, entitled “No Excuses,” Kricfalusi says that he was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD, which he says “makes it almost impossible to control your impulses and obsessions.” He writes that at the time of the Buzzfeed article, he was preparing to start a new studio and new series, but “now that this article has come out, I imagine it is not to be.” The letter triggered a swift and angry reaction, not only from Kricfalusi’s victims, but also from others on social media. One of the victims, Robyn Byrd, commented on Kricfalusi’s Facebook post: "I don’t find any apology strong or heartfelt enough for taking away a person’s adolescent motivation, her hopes to be an artist, and her sexual agency…We don’t accept this non-apology, neither do any of the other girls he doesn’t bother to mention, and it’s a big pile of manipulative crap. There you go." On Twitter, Byrd followed up with a series of tweets that told a story that did not appear in the original Buzzfeed piece, about how she had an abortion at the age of 18 while carrying Kricfalusi’s child, and how she was picked up at the abortion clinic by Kricfalusi’s employee Steve Worth, who she describes as “the last person you would ever want to come pick you up from such a life event.”

"Outside of Spongebob and its talented team, I'm one of the few producers left who's willing to break creative boundaries, try new things and allow artists to show off their own unique styles and skills."
Why is that sentence even in there for an apology?
