Nobody wants to have Virgil's career. The dumb f*** negotiated less money with wcw just to appear on tv. A lot of "dumb f***" indie wrestlers took a pay cut to sign a developmental contract so they could maybe get on tv in a few years. The difference is that Virgil was already famous. Apparently the only reason he became Vincent was because he offered to be the bodyguard for one third of what Papa Shango was negotiating.

In all seriousness, since they didn't put him in with Ted, I don't see it happening.

It's whatever Vince wants to do. It's not about whether he deserves it. With WWE seeking to honor a diverse group of people every year, perhaps Virgil will eventually be called upon to help round-out a HOF class.

Virgil did have that for 1991-heat standards, but Virgil is still somehow the LEAST Hall of Fame deserving "Put upon lackey finally is fed up and comes into his own to beat up their overbearing overlord." Daniel Bryan is a HOFer when he retires, of course. Damien Sandow was a memorable gimmick, and he did have MITB once and was "first to lose a called-in cashin", he could possibly go in one year. Hell, even Alex Riley has a puncher's chance just due to his role in GLOW. Virgil isn't even as Hall of Fame-worthy as Alex Riley. That should SAY SOMETHING. You honestly think the likes of Sandow and Riley should go into the Hall of Fame? Its suppose to be only for the elite of the elite, not everyone gets a trophy for participating Do I say Sandow and Riley should go into the Hall of Fame? Hell no. Do I say Sandow and Riley have more of a case than Virgil does? That is a WORLD of difference. Sandow has his MITB win to prove he was more than just a put-upon lackey. Riley was worse than Virgil was, but it's countered by Riley being in "GLOW" and being a relative success outside of WWE for positive reasons, instead of Virgil, who's well known for negative reasons. None of the three deserve to go in, but gun to my head, I'd put Sandow or Riley in far sooner than I'd ever put Virgil in.

I think you're overestimating the value of the tv exposure he got, given that he was on tv for most of those years as a jobber. Wcw was a chance for him to start over in a company on the upswing, paycut or no, the renewed exposure was absolutely worth it.

He offered himself at 1/3 Papa Shango's price. That was still probably more than he'd ever made in his life.

Virgil is the wrong guy who was at the right place at the right time. Any other wrestler could have been swapped into his roles in angles, and it would have made very little difference. I like to think that Virgil was also a discrete, trusted butler to Ted Dibiase, much like Alfred served Batman.

Back in the day I attended a few house shows with Dibiase headlining in the main event. We friends would always joke about the lumps Virgil would take in the upcoming match, and how Ted would throw him to the wolves thus saving his own ass.
Yes, Virgil entertained us. He was in the midst.

There might be someone in the board room who mentions his name as the low card candidate but management is probably worried he would go into business for himself at the ceremonies. When the inductees have to be humble on stage, who knows if he would put himself over every guy he wrestled with back in the day when mentioning names. Virgil doesn't seem to be that kind of guy , does he have a reputation for shooting on former colleagues? Old Virg' hangs out quite a bit at the casinos in western PA. One, I used to work at, and still have friends that do. They say he comes into the high limit room in his sweat pants, eats the buffet, doesn't play, and doesn't tip. Another friend, a dealer, says he constantly talks about his "f*** money" if he does decide to play. Dude's a joke. But one friend told me he talked to him one night, and Virgil said that Vince flew him out to Mania one year and put him up in a nice hotel and everything. Bullshit? Maybe, who knows with him?

I think hundreds of current indy workers would settle for Virgil like career. Guy was a decoration on the every main stage for over 15 years playing with the big boys. Nobody wants to have Virgil's career. The dumb f*** negotiated less money with wcw just to appear on tv. There are wrestlers who went to ECW and worked for free. EVERYONE who ever worked in wrestling is eligible.

When you go back and watch Virgil single matches, he gets a pop. It was really only in the NWO where he became a literal joke, and his personal character hasn't helped much.
If we can consider inducting people like The Goon and Outback Jack, we can certainly induct Virgil.

"Well if he ever does make it in, you can bet even money that two days later his hall of fame ring will end up in a pawn shop in Tijuana." Alternate caption "They better schedule his speech first, otherwise he's liable to go through everyone else's jacket at the coat check."

Virgil had a pretty decent career for a jobber to the stars. He wasn't horrible in his pre-WWF run, wasn't he Soul Train Jones in Memphis and/or Mid South? He manages to keep his name out there and wrestling fans who weren't even born when he was Virgil in WWF know who he is. He showed promise in this gimmick...
As far as Virgil getting inducted into the Hallowed Halls, that doesn't even pass the laugh test.

Maybe THAT's what he was on about when he was talking about being Xavier Woods' dad.

He got a Hasbro figure. That makes him as good as SD Jones.

Bobby is rolling in his grave at the thought of Virgil being in the hall of fame. I wish Heenan was still alive so he would laugh his ass off at lonely Virgil in a convention
