I hated this more than anything else on the show, honestly.

Taker might have looked better, but you could see in the few bumps he took that he was hurting. I honestly think this was John Cena being John Cena. He took the squash so that Taker could have a nice moment at Wrestlemania to send him off right. For as much shit as Cena gets, the guy cares about the business and respects it. I think Taker is done, and I expect some sort of retirement thing to happen in the next few months. He goes into the HOF as the headliner in NYC. yeah think this was more of a Taker IS wrestlemania (sorry HBK) to a sizable segment of the fanbase and the idea of him retiring on a loss at mania probably didn't sit well with the powers that be, after all taker's given to the company, so they do this so his last mania moment is a dominating squash win like the days of VINTAGE undertaker.

It was a fun little cameo but it was entirely unneeded and just came across as filler in what was an already bloated show. Also, did anyone else notice the Mahal levels of bacne on Taker?

He had a whupping coming with his name on it. Just weird seeing this happen to CENA. Dude got more offense in 2003 when he was a heel comedy rapper gimmick than he did here. I told my kids the exact same thing. I can look at it as Cena honestly not expecting Taker to go back on his actions from last year. But if you call a man out for weeks - retired or not - and not expect retribution eventually, you're acting the fool. John kept throwing dirt at the old bull, he was gonna get the horns.

Exactly my thinking. They booked that to absolute perfection. Cena didn't expect THAT 'Taker to show up. By the time Cena realized what he was in for, it was too late. Cena didn't lose a hard fought match, he got the snot kicked out of him in 5 minutes. There's no spin on that. He's got some soul searching to do.

I wanna know why Cena was so terrified during the match. Wasn't he the one who kept saying Taker wasn't some washed-up old man and could still go if he really wanted to? Why was he acting so surprised when it turned out Taker actually wasn't some washed-up old man who could still go if he really wanted to? He didn't really say that. He said Taker needed to get over himself and stop feeling sorry for himself. The way I'm thinking about the story, Cena thought Old Man Taker was going to show up, or he wouldn't show up at all. Cena to Iggy it would be an easy win, a quick way tonight the ship. Or Taker wouldn't show up and Cena could boast how he called him out and he didn't show. Instead, The Phenom, The Undertaker showed up and Cena wasn't ready for that. I said it in the Mania thread, he called down the hurricane and was not prepared.

When his spooky lights were on you could only see his bacne and his hat. He seemed to be in the best shape he has been in awhile, and that might be why. (Hip surgery too, I think?)

Cena acted like an entitled shithead and caught a well-deserved beating for it.

It was satisfying for what it was, and probably the best thing to do given the build. But it was pretty obvious to me and my boyfriend that the match was strategically short for a reason. I'm honestly surprised that after the match, Taker didn't pick up the mic and announce his retirement. What is there left for him to do? A WM against Cena is just about the last possible thing he could have on his bucket list; the Streak is spent, and the dream match vs Sting is never happening ( ). I don't see what else there is for him, especially if he can't go a full match anymore.

The way the story was done kind of called for it to play out this way but Cena of all people was the weirdest choice for it. Elias or Miz would have made sense as someone obnoxiously calling Yaker out every week. More predictable scenario with those guys. Having it be Cena.......was somehow both more ridiculous and much less predictable. Anyone who saw Cena being done away with in less time than it took Taker to beat Jimmy Snuka has been wrapped up in an asylum for years. No one sane could've seen that coming. ..........which made it so much more great to hear and see.

Wouldn’t surprise me. That’s best in shape wise he’s looked in a while and it’s a stark comparison to the old man body he had last year

I noticed it on his chest but just thought it might be actual spots. Didn't think Taker would hit roids but thinking about it now, he was in so much better shape than last year.

Taker needed to destroy Cena and he had to do it as The Deadman. If he came out as anything else it could be construed that all the smack Cena was saying about the gimmick is correct.

They did the exact same match when Bray Wyatt jobbed to Taker, and I'd say it will have similar effects such as Bray sliding down the card to midcard underdog, Cena not being able to beat either Roman Reigns or Taker makes him no longer Big Match John. He's gonna be the jtts for the forseeable future and probably put over several new talent before he gets gifted the 17th World title win.

The way the wwe works I'm assuming this means Cena is winning he universal title tonight.
