It ended way too quickly but the heel turn is interesting. I can see the rematch being ten times better than what we got tonight.

Yeah, Nakamura has been a complete bust in my eyes. Even Jinder had a more entertaining match against AJ. If this were a match on Smackdown, I'd be fine, but it had no business on Wrestlemania.
A Nakamura heel turn is a good call, but the dude screams midcarder to me. There's no shame in that at all. AJ is just miles above and it was blatantly obvious.
What was meant to be Nakamura's shining moment ended up being more of the same..

I was disapointed at first until I stopped trying to compare it to the WK match (which I watched earlier today) and I ended up enjoying it. Loved the counter of the forearm.

It felt like a NJPW match but it ended just as it would kick into gear in New Japan. Yeah, that strike exchange felt like they were about to click to the next level, but then it was over kind of quickly. Thumbs down to Kevin Dunn, by the by (I know, that NEVER happens around here, right?), for not knowing how to film pro wrestling strikes and make them come off as impactful. The camera felt too removed and distant from the action on a lot of the kicks and forearms, it dampened their impact and effect. Still, a good match, but one that didn't get to that next level that could've made it transcendent. yeah I liked the match but it did definitely felt like it was stuck in second gear and never ramped up all the way... Kind've understand it with the Heel turn... but that seems like something that should have been done at like a B pay-per-view to get to the real match at Mania.

AJ walked into Mania WWE Champ and left as WWE Champ. Who would have foreseen that a few years ago? So I’m happy, but the match itself didn’t live up to the hype even though it was still decent.

I’ve never watched a second of NJPW. So I only have his WWE work to go off. But Nakamura, while undeniably charismatic, is just okay in the ring. And yes, I understand the style he wrestle in Japan has taken a toll on him. But he’s built as this guy where every match is a dream match, and I just don’t think he can still pull that off with regularity.

I dont get the hype about either one of them, I always thought both of them were boring and this match just solidified that

It was good, but not a classic like I’d hoped. I think it’s tough when there’s 2 faces, that type of match works better in NJPW. I’d expect any subsequent encounters to be hotter than this one

Yup plus given how unpredictable wrestling is, this could be Styles and Nak only ever world title match at Mania so I doubt they will do a slight self sabotage to set up for Backlash.

I stand by my statement they held back due to this being a long term angle with the Nak heel turn
However, it was a good match but not the legendary duel we expected

It was a dream match in the sense that it was so boring it made me fall asleep and have a dream about a better match That's about as funny as the first 5 times you said it in the Mania thread. what about that other comment thou? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Anyway, That match needs way more time than it got and had they pushed Brauns wackiness to the preshow it may have had a chance to gear up at the end. For me, it felt like it was put in a terrible spot on the card and cut for time so that when it faltered they could convince themselves they made the right call.

Mediocre match.
But people will still find excuses for Nakamura.

I kinda want Nakamura to start a Bullet Club style group. Come out and do promos in Japanese then leave. Shame they haven’t got too many Japanese stars they could put in. They’d probably consider Tozawa and Itami too small
On topic though, I’ve seen the NJPW match, and I still enjoyed the Mania one. Made me look forward to the rematch on Smackdown or Backlash as there is bound to be one.

I liked the match - though it was never going to live up to the hype - but... it felt like they'd set the ground work for a 30 minute match, and just as it started to rev up, 10-15 mins go lopped off it, and they ended. So rather flat.

This was a 20 minute preview of what was building towards a 60-minute match. So many times people have said, "just hang on guys, they're going to pick things up any moment now! It's going to get really god!" Except, it didn't. I'm running out of excuses when it comes to Nakamura coming in as strong as he did against Sami Zayn in his debuting match...he's just not delivered at all on the main roster, and I don't know if it's the language barrier, injuries, motivations, or a combination of all three. A heel turn is welcome for sure, but it may be too little too late for many people since we are now on Day 368 of his Main Roster run...and nothing of note aside from his Royal Rumble win has happened. The feud is continuing after tonight. That's the biggest issue I take with this whole thing, to be honest. WrestleMania is supposed to be the 'season finale' of the WWE. Feuds, storylines, all of that is supposed to have a definitive mark of finality so that the next chapters can be started the following two nights along with the combination of shuffling of talent. Much like how Lesnar/Roman didn't end the 'reign of terror,' this just stretches the end for an even longer period.

Average match with average build. Atleast things should pick up with clear heel/face alignment.
AJ looks like someone in steady decline looking out of shape. The Brock match was the only great match i can remember from him for a long time.

Was either of them working hurt?
It was that underwhelming that it wouldn't surprise me.
