it depends how you define comedy act, that guy who talked about strudel and pie and referred to himself in third person did alright for himself

Isn't comedy act Crash Holly one of the highest amount of title victories in WWE history (and outside "but the Hardcore belt", still one of the only people to win four titles without winning a World Championship...and the only one to win four without the IC/US, to boot?)

I don’t know. I always laugh during Roman Reigns’ matches.

Didn't Hornswoggle get the cruiserweight championship as well? Yeah against Chavo. Chavo never recovered after that. He actually won it in the Cruiserweight Open and feuded with Jamie Noble right after before they quietly retired the title. The Chavo feud was later.

Savio and Viscera were comedy characters? The trick is to switch it off when you get in the ring, see Piper and Jericho who did lots of comedy, but were also over as serious wrestlers.

I think you could make an argument for the KO/Jericho pairing being a comedy act (and that's not meant to crap on it). So Owens held the Universal title while doing comedy.

Pretty sure only 50% of that group are comedy characters.

I'd argue HTM was a comedy character... the greatest IC champ of all time!

There is a difference between a character being comedic in the things they say and characters that exist as comic relief. But, even comic relief characters can win titles--probably not main event titles though.

Viscera The World largest Love Machine who dry humped people was a comedy character. Savio not really, ok he danced as a babyface but was that comedy? The issue with the original thread is what being defend as "comedy" character.

How many of the acts that the OP stated were actually comedy acts? Lol I'd say... Doink - from the time Dink showed up. Jim Duggan - presented as a lovable oaf, but still a legitimate threat until he became a jobber in '92. R-Truth - post-heel turn. Goldust - during the Bookdust team. Isaac Yankem - crappy gimmick, but never a comedy act. Savio Vega - never. Crush - never. Gangrel - never. Viscera - during the World's Largest Love Machine phase. Eugene - once the initial storyline with Bischoff ended.

Santino at the end was a comedy act and the crowd was behind him. If he would of won the RR that they teased, the place would of gone crazy.

Santino, who had way more gold then he had to right to His IC title run wasn't nearly long enough. Should've kept the belt until he was a week or two away from breaking the Honky Donkey Man's record.

Enzo? Hervina? Godfather? General Rection? Santino? New Day? New Day, depends on how you look at it. They engage in comedy, but they also engage in stuff like beating AJ Styles and Jericho clean, so they tell jokes, but aren't jokes, there's a distinction there.

Santino deserved the RR and winning the Chamber.
2 of the biggest mistakes on WWE history.
