The Breezango thread got me thinking. As a whole, comedy acts really don't win titles. With the exception of Mankind and for some unknown reason Santino, who had way more gold then he had to right to as a comedy character, it doesn't really happen?
Doink Jim Duggan (WWF) R-Truth (Since Little Jimmy) Goldust (Titles won when a serious character) Isaac Yankem Savio Vega Crush (Post Demolition) Gangrel Viscera Eugene
To name a few.

Eugene was tag team champion.
Depends on how much you define them as comedy acts. Heath Slater and Rhyno, Hurricane and Rosey. All former tag team champions as well.

Comedy tag teams do, though. Rhyno & Slater. Santino & Kozlov. Regal with both Tajiri and Eugene. They don't usually hold them very long, but short tag title runs happen every few years.

Santino Marella won the InterContinental, Tag Team, and Us Championships.

And Santino did not start out as comedy. He just went that way when his plucky babyface characters failed.

That Doink feud according to some sent him there and he ever recovered. He could never outsmart the clown even though the crowd could see it coming.

Didn't Hornswoggle get the cruiserweight championship as well?

I disagree Mankind being a comedy act, in his matches he did serious stuff, the only comedy was done in promos, but in a heated feud he was all business.

Didn't Hornswoggle get the cruiserweight championship as well? Yeah against Chavo. Chavo never recovered after that.

comedy acts can win titles if the company doesn't care about the title and treats them as a joke

That Doink feud according to some sent him there and he ever recovered. He could never outsmart the clown even though the crowd could see it coming. That doesn't make Crush a comedy act, though. Hell, Doink as a heel wasn't even a comedy act.

Dude... Edge and Christian did more comedy than most people in the Attitude Era. They just switched off the goofy grins when matches started. There's no reason Breezango can't do the same.

I suppose the answer to the question in the thread title is "no."

Team Hell No was a comedy act. They were tag champs and one of the most over things on the roster for their time.

And Santino did not start out as comedy. He just went that way when his plucky babyface characters failed. He started as a plucky underdog. Then he went to a smarmy, smartass heel-which was when he was most over. Then he became a comedy act, a role he seemed to thrive on.

I mean, one of the first IC title matches I saw featured the Duchess Of Queensbury at ringside and more comedy heel shenanigans than you could shake a stick at.
