Definitely keeping NJPW World. This has been the most fun I've had watching a show live in years, even if I'm exhausted now. If you're new to NJWorld, just remember they charge your card the first of every month and not the date you signed up on each month. Are you prorated if you sing up in the middle of the month?

I legit teared up at the Omega/Young Bucks reunion, WWE hasn't been able to conjur any emotion aside from apathy and disdain for years at this point. NJPW, now is the best time start making serious moves into the North American territories.

You could sign up on the 30th and get charged the full amount, then they'd charge the same full amount the very next day. I've heard all of Japan's online video services are like this.

We’re only halfway through 2018, and Omega already feels like he deserves “wrestler of the year” awards.
On top of Okada/Omega 4, he’s also sitting on that ***** war with Jericho, the Bucks/Golden Lovers at Long Beach, the Jay White and Hangman Page matches, and I thought his Cody match at Supercard was great. He’s pumping out classic after classic, so barring anything unfortunate he’s on his way to sweeping some votes.

If Suzuki and Sabre start teaming regularly, they'll be a dangerous duo to beat

The match at Supercard with Cody drew the biggest attendance in ROH history and I was their and the crowd was hot for it. It makes sense for NJPW to want to run that match again in the US.

Kenny Omega ascends to the top of the wrestling world during Pride month. That is perfect.

That perfectly sets up the Cow Palace if they want to do Cody/Kenny for the title and for undisputed Bullet Club leadership. That should move some tickets. Was their first match really loved by Bullet Club fans? Because I thought their ROH match was hot garbage. For some reason, he's loved by them. Last few live events I've been to he has been getting lots of love. I get what they tried doing in that match, but Cody is god awful and they went way too long for his skill set. So if they really need to do a Kenny/Cody feud, hide him in 6 man matches. The less from Cody the better. Unless you squash him in 10 seconds. I'm completely okay with that.

Oh I believe that the ROH fans love him. But I just didn't hear ANY kind of reaction to their supposedly huge match there. Mania weekend came and went and barely anyone mentioned it as a highlight. I heard more about PCO.

It's no so much a black friday deal that runs that day, but rather that tuesday and the day after are when all the flight companies test their deals by starting them much lower than on Friday when it's super promoted. Also, are you a cigarette smoker? If not, when booking your hotel room in Japan you'll see the options for smoking and non-smoking rooms. The non-smoking are about $30 more, but definitely worth it as the smoking rooms aren't just slightly smokey, they're caked in smoke. Any idea how much they are roughly? I can currently get a round trip for around £500-600 so $670-800, and am not sure if it's gonna drop below that. Yeah I don't smoke. I might be crashing with a friend who lives out there for a bit, but will also be doing hotels as I'll make a full holiday trip of it so thanks a ton for that tip! If you can still get the 500-600, get that right now! 670-800 I wouldn't jump on, but wow yeah get that! I suggest this: Fly in on December 29 so that you arrive during the day December 30. If you want to maximize your wrestling experience in Japan, check out these shows that are all at Koruken Hall (which happens to be across from the Tokyo Dome): 12/31 (noon) - Ice Ribbon's Ribbonmania (very fun Joshi promotion, probably the most overtly Japanese thing you'll see in-ring, great way to start your visit) 1/3 (noon) - All Japan Pro Wrestling (they're running shows on 1/2 as well, but 1/3 is the one that the legends are booked for so you'll get to see a lot of greats you otherwise might not ever have the chance) 1/3 (evening) - DDT Pro (the number 2 promotion in Japan right now, this is where Kenny Omega and Ibushi got their starts. This is the only show of the bunch I'd strongly urge you to get tickets for as soon as you land in Japan as it will sell out) If online conversions are correct, you'll be able to get great Wrestle Kingdom seats for £51.06. These other three shows will cost either £27.23 or £13.62 each if they're running a new years deal. The only other show around New Years is Michunoku Pro typically does an annual on on the 28/29, but it's always a very small, intimate 300-person (not a typo) venue and unless you have someone there to get tickets in advance (which it sounds like you may) it's virtually impossible to score tickets for. There's two major wrestling shops in Tokyo, the official New Japan store (which will be closed until Jan 3rd - and this is the first place to get all your Wrestle Kingdom merch) and the other major wrestling store down the block from it whose name escapes me right now. Plan to spend at least an hour at that latter one if only for all the tremendous memorabilia. Also, the Tower Records in Tokyo always does a partnership with NJPW every year for Wrestle Kingdom, so they'll have some great exclusive goodies, as well as bonuses like posters if you spend a certain amount with NJPW items as part of your purchase. This is the one place to get Wrestling stuff that isn't closed at all during the week of New Years, so go here first. The one drawback about planning a wrestling trip around Wrestle Kingdom is that Ribera's Steakhouse is closed 12/28-1/3 and reopens on the 4th at the height of the Wrestle Kingdom rush. Unless you extend your holiday longer by a few days past WK, you may have to miss it this go-round. Non-wrestling related, do New Years Eve at the Meiji Shrine, absolute beautiful experience. January 2, go see the Emperor speak as he only makes public appearances two days a year (once on January 2 and one on his birthday) and since this emperor is stepping down, this is your last chance to see him. Trust me, super powerful, absolutely do it. Finally, the one item I'd definitely pack is Pepto Bismol in chewable form, or whatever the equivalent brand is where you are. You're going to be eating a lot of great and very different food, some of which may not agree with you, and there's no comparable item to Pepto Bismol on the market in Japan, so bring a box just to be safe. Hope this helps.

Sounds like an awesome show, i really need to watch more njpw as its the best in pro wrestling from the sounds of it. Is it fair to say WWE is for kids and casuals while NJPW is for the real pro wrestling fans? I don't think that's fair as they're all different styles. The beauty of wrestling is that it reflects the culture around it, and there's so many amazing cultures in the world. Everyone has their preferences, but I truly believe there's some style of wrestling for everybody whether it's puro, lucha, World of Sport, deathmatch etc. - and I think because they're so different you can't really compare or paint their audiences with that broad of a brush. I flew to Tokyo for Wrestling Kingdom last year and I went to TLC at the Target Center. I had a great time at both.

So, Naito is NJPW’s most over guy. A part timer tells him he is going to whoop his ass, he calls his shot and beats his ass and leaves him in a bloody heap. And takes his belt. In his second match. If WWE did this, fans would riot. You can't apply western wrestling logic to a Japanese wrestling product. There's a lot different culturally.

Elgin has gone from a keg to developing a six pack.
He looks at least 20 pounds slimmer.

They have some good momentum but look at Crockett and Watts. Growing too fast and hard can kill you. Even Vince was damn lucky he had MTV and the New York/Northeast market. Another question I want to ask: If New Japan really wants to expand, should they change their name? Just, for example, to International Wrestling Grand Prix, since the Titles are such?

I really enjoyed the match, but after the promo Jericho cut last week, I thought It telegraphed Naito winning. But, Jericho coming in and doing exactly what he said he would seemed like something that will hurt Naito.
