I’ve never really watched the show (no issue with it, just never got round to it) but judging by the response online, if Amazon or Netflix don’t pick this show up they need their heads examined.

And this is why noone likes networks anymore. Honestly can anytone name a stupider cancellation than this since Firefly? Nothing, and I mean nothing, was a dumber cancellation than Angel. For those that don't know, it was more or less a foregone conclusion that the WB was likely going to pick it up for a 6th season, but Joss Whedon was tired of making his staff wait for confirmation as it meant that people were passing up opportunities during TV's pilot season in favor of their current show, which really sucks when you don't know for certain if your current show will stay on the air. Since Whedon was pretty sure the show would get renewed, he met with a WB executive to get a confirmation that the show would get renewed so he could settle the nerves of his crew. The executive did not like getting put on the spot and instead cancelled the show right then and there. Said executive shortly admitted that it was a mistake, but Whedon had already given his staff the news, planned out the show's finale, and people were soliciting and accepting new jobs for the next season. That's right. It seemed such a sure thing that the show would get renewed that Whedon felt comfortable asking for an early confirmation and got cancelled out of spite for daring to ask. This is why hit shows get renewed for multiple seasons now. Everyone involved wants to avoid this stupidity and give cast and crew the comfort of job security that Whedon tried to get for his staff. I didn’t realize that was the full reason for it.

So what now for Fox as far as comedies go?
New Girl is ending after this season.
Simpsons is getting old and is one main cast death away from bowing out.
Family Guy is a show they've already cancelled before. And like Simpsons it's getting old.
So we've got a network that will have its strongest comedy this coming season be a Tim Allen sitcom. In 2018.

Young Justice and a lot of the DC animated shows that made way for you know what. Actually, I bet there's a ton more Cartoon Network examples. They weren't cancelled for Teen Titans Go, TTG was already airing at the time. They were cancelled because they decided they couldn't make toys of them... the fact they didn't try particularly hard to sell toys still makes it a stupid as hell decision.

And apparently it's being cancelled because Fox picked up Tim Allen's Last Man Standing? Which...is a problem for reasons that are not allowed on this board. The darkest timeline.

I'm honestly rooting for the death of broadcast TV at this point, and I work in TV. Streaming services, save for a few exceptions (I see you, cancellation of Sense8), are willing to take more chances and let shows naturally develop their storylines, something that the networks just aren't interested in, for the most part. I've seen the landscape of broadcast TV, and it's incredibly generic and shitty at this point. Cable's not much better, but some shows are holding their own. TV as a whole is terrible at adapting and changing with the times, and it's made it's grave.
It's particular stinging that B99, The Last Man On Earth, and The Mick were good shows, and they get replaced with a drecky show that is like According To Jim with an agenda.

They were cancelled because they decided they couldn't make toys of them... the fact they didn't try particularly hard to sell toys still makes it a stupid as hell decision. It was especially stupid for many reasons. 1. Mattel's problem was using really primitive tooling and articulation. The toys were more than a decade behind what Hasbro was doing with Marvel properties. Mattel wouldn't bridge that gap more for years. 2. The show has a HUGE cast. Tons of opportunities for action figures. 3. Their "Total Heroes" line, put out a few years ago, even kinda looks a bit like YJ's style in some of the figures. Though, given that line was cancelled eventually, maybe not the best example.

Nickelodeon used to have an extremely bizarre policy that they would cancel narrative shows after three seasons, period, no matter what. We lost Pete & Pete that way.

Yeah, it may be better to just bag it, although it'd be crazy if they actually kill Riggs off and just replace him with a different person, rather than recasting the role. Also, safe to say that the Riggs role apparently just makes people giant a-holes.

At least they didn't cancel it before they aired "The Box", the episode where Jake and Holt interrogate Sterling K. Brown for the entire episode. One of the greatest episodes of any show I've ever seen.

Lucifer has been cancelled too. Damn, my uncle is going to be sad. He's a fan of B99, but a huge fan of Lucifer. The showrunner’s come out and said that he wanted the finale to be such a big thing, it’ll cause Fox not to cancel them. Except they did so, as a warning to your uncle, it’ll really frustrate him.

Add The Exorcist to the canceled pile. Shame, from what I've heard, it was a truly unsettling and frightening show.

Are there anymore episodes to air his season, or is that it.. it’s done?
Until a streaming service picks it up that is.
