I have always been a fan of Kanyon and wish he'd have been put in bigger angles than he was . Any of y'all remember WCW when Chris Kanyon portrayed the character 'Positively Kanyon' basically ripping on DDP?
Always remember a promo of his and it made me sit up and notice that the guy had talent .
Any of y'all wanna share your memories of him or favourate angles he was involved in?

I dug Mortis he had a cool entrance, look and a lot of cool moves. Positively Kanyon got hurt by ddp leaving to make a movie,Kimberly quitting the night they put them together and her being replaced by Judy Bagwell. No one can argue that Kanyon wasn’t the alliance mvp of the invasion because he had a t-shirt that stated that fact and back then you weren’t allowed to print lies on t-shirts so it must be true.

I remember an episode of Nitro where he basically beat down on Ice Train over the course of several segments, with Ice Train refusing to stay down. I thought that was pretty cool.

I saw him on the subway the night I recorded a song with Childish Gambino.

- Positively Kanyon - Alliance MVP - "Who better than Kanyon?" "Everybody!" "Ok, who not better than Kanyon?" "Everybody!" - Some great runs in those 6 man Jersey Triad tags.
Very underrated talent imo. Could have been a valued midcarder in the WWE if not for a horror injury in 2001 from which he was never the same.

I think he overachieved in his career, he was good, not spectacular.
What happened subsequently was unbelievably sad.

Kanyon was a versatile upper midcard heel who just had an aura about him that said 'boo this man'. He deserved better than what he got from the WWE.

I agree, the guy did some really cool moves that where at the time new and exciting, the invader of offense nickname was true at the time. The guy also bumped like crazy for people, one of the best guys to take the Goldberg spear because he made it look like death. People really know how valuable he was because he was working with all the Celebrities that came in to wrestle in WCW to train them for that short period of time before they have there matches.

Aye, I think he came around a decade too early, tbh. His bumping style, ability to have fun matches with lots of different folk and his character work would have had him a huge cult fave on this forum if he were around circa 2011 on.

Much like Booker T, Kenyon is a guy WCW should have cultivated as an upper card performer a lot sooner than they did. I could never have seen him as WHC, but an upper midcarder who serves as a potential challenger to the champion, he definitely could have been. He is one of the unsung names of that time when WCW did finally start to phase out Hogan and the NWO and let a new generation move up.

Kanyon was one of the guys who got me hooked on wrestling. He just always had it in spades for childhood me, even though I knew he was a villain I loved to see him in WCW and popped like crazy every time he ever did anything later on in WWE, I didn't understand the Boy George segment at the time and was just like "OH COOL KANYON!....Why's he singing Culture Club?", but I'd go out of my way to watch Velocity just for him and was so frustrated that he never got more of a shot.
Basically, I was a massive fan and devastated at the tragic events that unfolded. He would have been a gatekeeper talent for me with the occasional title run, a Chris Jericho level talent. One of the most underused talents of all time IMO.

Kanyon was legit one of my all time favorites. Just a great technician who grew into his natural charisma.

I think you right about that. He was before his time but I always thought he should been US champion in WCW or in the WWE he been US or I-C depending on the brand had he been healthy. He was a very solid hand, I wouldn't say World Champion level but I-C level for sure.

If Vince had gotten behind him, I could see Kanyon having a career arc similar to Christian.

If Vince had gotten behind him, I could see Kanyon having a career arc similar to Christian. But Vince wasn't behind Christian, he wanted him buried for an asinine reason, the guy even left the company because he was told flat out there was no chance of upward mobility. He only got a main event run because Edge retired unexpectedly and even then his purpose was to put Orton over. Had he stuck around rather than heading to TNA, Christian would have ended up jerking the curtain, getting burned out from being screwed around and hurt, which is pretty much what actually happened to Ksnyon and so many other talented guys in the 00s.

Kanyon was incredibly underrated. Good in the ring, charismatic and goofy.
Rest in peace.
