Hahah. What? Like, I had a hard time believing they could make a movie without making it pointlessly and needlessly "epic"... But a TV show? How many things can obi-wan do in exile? How many people can he meet without blowing his cover?

How many people can he meet without blowing his cover? I want it to just be thirteen episodes of a bored Obi-Wan sitting on a cliff staring at child Luke in the distance through some binoculars while in his bathrobe drinking a cup of coffee. If anybody asks why all he says is "I screwed this up once, I'm not screwing it up again".

I doubt Obi-Wan just sat in a hut and meditated for 16 years, nor dealt with merely local problems. He lives on the same planet as Jabba the Hutt and the son of Anakin Skywalker. Stuff's gonna happen, and he will find it or it will find him. I'm certain The Adventures of Obi-Wan (a recurring thing in current SW comics, btw) are sustainable for a movie or a streaming miniseries.

Obi-Wan going about his mission without blowing his cover and bringing the entire Empire down on him.

This could work as a sort of western style series with Obi Wan as a wandering hero who helps people on Tatooine. I figured he went on adventures on the planet while Luke was growing up. Ewan McGregor is one of the only elements of the prequels that I have no problem whatsoever with. He was excellent in all three movies.

How many people can he meet without blowing his cover? The EU covered a lot of stuff. He stayed on Tattooine to protect Luke if the Empire ever found him. There were actually a few times people (including robo-legs Darth Maul) came for Luke and Obi Wan had to protect him before Luke and his family even knew someone was looking for them.

I would favor the series taking the same approach that Clone Wars did, where it is an anthology that skips around time-wise (seriously, the earliest episode in the series was actually the first episode of Season 3). There are a few reasons I favor that:
1) There are more storyline options that way. There can be immediately post RotS storylines, post "Twin Suns" storylines, and stuff in between. Hell, you can even toss in some pre-TPM stuff if you can get Neeson for a few episodes as flashback episodes.
2) It grants them flexibility. The other Star Wars canon materials are either in remote regions (The Mandalorian), incredibly short stories unlikely to complicate canon (Forces of Destiny), at the end of canon (the newest movies), or are in some very tightly controlled storyline eras (everything else). Doing this series as an anthology would grant similar control to canon to prevent the show from complicating things. Anything you later want to retcon can be done during time skips easily enough.
I would open up shortly after "Twin Suns". That episode involved both Maul and Ezra Bridger traveling to Tatooine. Both of them were targets of the Inquisitors (and Maul killed 2 on-screen and almost certainly killed another as his lightsaber appeared to be a modified Inquisitor weapon) and both were of interest to the Emperor (if Vader was truly interested in them he would have hunted them himself). There are at least two canon Inquisitors whose deaths have not been accounted for canonically, so one could have trailed either of them to Tatooine, forcing Obi-Wan to figure out a way to dispatch of the inquisitor without making it obvious that someone who can kill an inquisitor is on the planet.

even though it would be set on just Tatooine, there is major scope for expansion!
was Jabba the big fat Hutt the only gangster there, i very much doubt it, and even him joining the crew too and that should be fun
not totally keep it in that timeline, so hopefully it can branch out into his past more, as we have really zero history of him on Tatooine

I'm usually against all these separate little streaming services, but between the Star Wars shows and all the upcoming Marvel shows, Disney + seems awesome.

Rumours circulating that development has stalled or maybe even been cancelled altogether.

It would be disappointing and surprising at this point if it doesn't go forward, considering the success of the Mandarin and having Ewan on board.

If it goes forward I want Obi Wan to get laid at some point during the series.
He deserves it.

Hopefully it's much ado about nothing and we're still good to go. I have to think after Mandalorian was such a hit, there's no way they don't go full steam ahead with this.
