Real talented musician. Really shit driver. I'm with you.
I like a few of his songs, but his outside antics (obviously not as bad as other musicians, etc.) is pretty f***ed up.

He was one of my first ever "favorite musicians" as a kid, since I loved his turn as Dodger in Oliver and Company and I was a in grade school around the time River of Dreams was released. Same here. My first album of his was The Stranger, solely because my dad had it on tape. Blew my seven year old mind. My top five: Root Beer Rag Sometimes a Fantasy Go To Extremes Don't Ask Me Why The Longest Time

I love me some Piano Man, but You may be right is my favourite. 'You may be right, I may be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic you're looking for!' I liked how that was the theme for Dave's World, the Dave Barry column come to life (played by Harry Anderson).

I love Uptown Girl and Piano Man very much. There's something about Piano Man...it's so haunting and sad.

I used to like him, then throughout the 90s it seemed like every store played Uptown Girl and The Longest Time ad nauseum, so i grew to no longer like it.
20 years later, I'm back on the liking Billy Joel bandwagon.

So, for the longest time, you weren't a fan of Billy Joel? -edgestar, an uptown girl

He was my mom's favorite artist. And while the trope is that you rebel against the music your parents listen to, he's one of those artists that you just can't hate. I f***ing love the guy, and that will never change. I've also been trying to coordinate between my sister, my niece, a tattoo artist family friend and myself to get some Billy Joel inspired tattoos to honor my mom. I'm trying to narrow it down to Only the Good Die Young or New York State of Mind. If I was able to get a tattoo (my doctors are against it), my friend and I were going to get the "we might be laughing at bit too loud" part, since when we first met in church, we got separated for laughing so hard, in Sunday school.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

He has a bunch of great songs. My favorite has always been Anthony's Song.
"He's tradin' in his Chevy for a Cadillac You oughta know by now And if he can't drive With a broken back At least he can polish the fenders"
I love the broken back part. It is so true how people work their bodies to death and when the retire they cant even enjoy it except for polishing your fenders.
Also his daughter is gorgeous.
