My god. Once it is fully revealed it will probably haunt my nightmares.
And I dont mean appear in my nightmares. My nighmares thenselves will suffer with visions of it.

Apparently the full design has been found and it’s pretty ok? Not spectacular, but not as god awful as we were fearing. So just...meh?

I think that might have been an earlier mock-up or proof of concept design, given that's just a smaller version of this image:  Note the police officer appearing to be Chris Pratt and not James Marsden, suggesting that this was created before casting was finished. |

If you absolutely have to have a computer animated anthropomorphic cartoon hedgehog interacting with real humans for some reason, that's a fine way to do it.

I'm waiting for the trailer but this look as bad as other CGI-live action movies like the Smurf, the chipmunks movies and woody woodpecker. To me, sonic look like someone wearing a bootleg Chinese mascot outfit. Atleast the pokemon in Detective pikachu still look like the pokemon from the game, this not so much.

The bizarre thing is that there's so many perfect designs ready made that they could go for. The 90s/Mania design is a classic cartoony style, but we also have the modern Generations era type that's been honed to perfection from countless attempts at getting the 3D design right. And I do not believe for a second that either would be more offputting or unrealistic in movie form than... This. As much as the classic design of Sonic may not look 100% realistic, neither did Roger Rabbit, but when you put effort in to blend the character into the world, the audience stops noticing after a while.
