MTV has launched a new production unit, MTV Studios — and with it put in the works a batch of new shows and revivals of properties from the Viacom-owned cable channel’s extensive content library.

Among the initial MTV Studios slate is a new iteration of the animated series “Daria” from “Inside Amy Schumer” writer Grace Edwards; “Teen Wolf” creator Jeff Davis’s reimagining of sci-fi animated series “Aeon Flux” with fellow exec producer Gale Anne Hurd; a revival with Bunim/Murray Productions of reality series “The Real World”; and a new version of unscripted series “Made.”

Daria's constant cynicism has not aged well, IMO. Today's kids are way more optimistic than kids of that generation were.

Daria ... in today’s age/evolution of the Internet? She’s too good for that. You can’t fully recreate 90s Daria for today’s sensibilities. Or, at least it would be difficult.

This is my worry as well. Daria is such a SPECIFIC Gen-X snapshot. It would be weird to see this core sample of the 90's transplanted into 2018, or more likely 2020 by the time it actually AIRS.

Yeah, that's kinda my thought... Daria was 100% a Gen-X stereotype... not a millennial or uh... whatever the hell Gen-Z is going to be called.
