The thing I’m hearing about the Daria return is that it’s apparently promoting Jodie to the friend spot that Jane was in during the original series, with no indication yet of what happens to Jane herself, or any other character, really. o Oh, I'm out then. The Daria/Jane dynamic was the key part of the show. The Jodie character was fine, and I get why they're bumping her up, but it's not going to work the same.

I'd rather a revival of "the head" of "the maxx" The Head and The Maxx were a lot of fun. I wouldn’t mind those coming back either. I’ll give Aeon Flux a chance. I don’t think they’ll be able to capture that original style again but I’ll still give it a look.

Aeon Flux is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. To this day I "don't get it." Does it really need a revival?

Gen-Y are millennials. Daria was definitely a Gen-Xer. Disagree. She was a teen in the original run of the series, which was in the 90s. Would Xennial fit? I'm in the middle of X and Y, 1981. Yeah, Xennials are a "don't quite fit into either" generation

Daria's whole attitude kind of comes off like an entitled suburban kid who's never actually dealt with any real problems- the kind of whiney, "deep" know-it-all that a lot of teenagers think they are. Maybe that's cool if you're 15 years old (and it's the 90's) but if you're an adult it just becomes kind of grating and I don't even think today's generation of teenagers can relate to that kind of character.

I never watched Aeon Flux and the poster above summons up my feelings about Daria the best. The Real World was fine the first couple of seasons when it was just a bunch of kids getting an opportunity to live rent free while appearing on T.V. After that it became a bunch of people trying to become famous by acting like idiots. I will pass on all three.
If MTV tries to reboot NEXT I am giving up on television.

I find Daria to be what Lisa post 2000 would be if she was allowed to age into a teenager.

Okay, regarding Daria, are they making this revival set now with her as a teen, or are they aging the characters? That's something you don't see a lot in cartoons when characters actually age, except for All Grown Up.
As for Aeon Flux, I might check out the original series, but I never got into it when it originally aired as I was little during that time and didn't quite understand what I saw, not to mention that my mom wouldn't have wanted me watching a show with a well-endowed, scantily-clad female lead.

So long as we catch up on Kevin and Brittany, I’m satisfied.
Like you, Daria was can't miss TV in my house. I still enjoy the show and still consider it one of the best animated shows ever and Mr. DeMartino is one of my favorite characters of all time. Just like any TV show, if it is well written, it can work.
The problem with the Bevis and Butthead remake was that they put the 90s characters into the current world and it didn't translate well. Why were they still wearing Metallica and AC/DC t-shirts? I didn't think it was that bad, but I wasn't a fan of the show in the first place.
