On the contrary...Daria as a mom raising an optimistic modern kid while still holding onto her own Gen-X cynicism...that might work.

Obviously, they wouldn't translate Daria exactly as she was. That's not how these things work. She'll likely still be sarcastic and calling BS constantly, but likely not in the same exact tone the original incarnation had. I would not be surprised to see them infuse some sort of activism into the character, and being some sort of in-universe online presence.

Depends if she's running on Simpsons time like the Beavis and Butthead reboot did, in which case she's a Gen Z-er, or they go with real time and she's a ~35 year old Xennial with a kid going through the same problems she did.

Unless the Aeon Fluxx has the original creator working on it I will pass.
Never cared for Real World. And never really watched Daria.

As an unlikable, out-of-touch dude holding onto my gen-X cynicism in an optimistic modern world...Can confirm. Doesn't endear yourself to others.

The thing I’m hearing about the Daria return is that it’s apparently promoting Jodie to the friend spot that Jane was in during the original series, with no indication yet of what happens to Jane herself, or any other character, really.

Why? *shrug* Beats me. I mean, Daria and Jodie were acquaintances at most, in the sense that you’d have your close friend(s), but you’d have those other people you’d talk with if they were around that you generally didn’t NOT like... Give or take Daria’s general personality, of course. And given that Jodie is African-American, that obviously opens things up for further commentary along those lines, I guess.

Loved Daria the show, but I wonder how I'll view it going forward since I rooted for and identified with her when I first watched it back in the day, but now when I go back and watch eps and clips, I find her to be a big dickhead lol

My sisters and I loved Daria, my older sister even has all of Daria on DVD.
A revival isn't going to work because it's a snapshot of Gen X

Daria was such a product of its time that any revival would almost have to be in-name-only in order to work. I always liked the concept of Aeon Flux if not the execution, so that one might be worth checking out. I never got into The Real World so I have no opinion on that one.

I used to love the Real World. Quinn was my fav on Daria, and the others I wanted to like but couldn't get into.

Daria's constant cynicism has not aged well, IMO. Today's kids are way more optimistic than kids of that generation were. I'm more optimistic than Daria and same generation as I was a teenager when Daria first aired.

Gen-Y are millennials. Daria was definitely a Gen-Xer. Disagree. She was a teen in the original run of the series, which was in the 90s. Would Xennial fit? I'm in the middle of X and Y, 1981.

Daria was couldn’t-miss TV for me growing up.
Actually, I recall consuming quite a bit of late 90’s MTV then. Aeon Flux, B&B, the “Amp” late night techno block, Week In Rock, MTV Raps, early MTV Live. That period was also the peak of live performances on the VMAs.
So long as we catch up on Kevin and Brittany, I’m satisfied.

I'd rather a revival of "the head" of "the maxx"

They should just make Saw Boy Buck into a series:
