Raw was in Sioux City, South Dakota last night, and apparently Vince instructed the announcers to not mention what city they were in by name, because it is not a major market city. This has happened in the past.
I think it does a disservice to those from that city that attended the show. You should not give the impression that you are embarrassed to be working in that town.

Sioux Falls. And while I've noticed they sometimes refrain from mentioning cities that aren't ''big time'', skipping the Sioux Falls mention is silly. I mean,don't even mention South Dakota, by that logic.

That's a dumb thing to do if true. Not everyone knows if and when WWE comes to their town. When I was a kid I had no idea that WWE had shows in my city. I only found out later as an adult.

Green Bay isn't really a major market outside of the fact that we got the 13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS OF THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE, THE GREEN BAY PACKERS! but they never fail to mention it on TV as far as I know. So this would, in fact, be odd.

When they used to tape Smackdown in Florence, SC all the time, it was only referred to as South Carolina on TV all the time...

Have you got a source for this rumour? f***ed up if true A while back, RAW was in Lafayette, Louisiana, where it was only referred to as the Cajundome. |

And since the Resch Center is right across the street from Lambeau, WWE can hype up that they’re broadcasting from a famous location. There is so much irony in this call. Don't mention the city if it's not a big market, just say the state. Well, ok, but then when the people you want to get cheered get mercilessly destroyed in the major markets, but you continue the push because they're over in the small towns, not mentioning the small town where your shit is working makes it look worse.

Definitely a slap in the face to the cities that allow WWE to use their arenas and pour out hospitality. It’s more insulting to the fans who live in that rural part of the country and rarely get this particular form of entertainment.

There was a Rock promo on a Smackdown that I taped as a kid and watched repeatedly. It was pretty standard fare for a "Finally" promo, but it was what taught me that that city existed. What I'm getting at is, there's a geography lesson out there if you mention a city, WWE. Think of the children! |
