Remember when Wrestlemania was in New Jersey and they made every effort to insist they were in New York? Everyone calls MetLife Stadium part of New York... I mean the NEW YORK Giants and NEW YORK Jets play there. It was also labelled as NY/NJ. True, but it did seem more NY themed than NJ, and I think I heard "In the shadow of New York" more times than I actually heard them mention NJ. Chris Christie looked pretty pissed about it when they dragged him out.

Yeah, but Christie is always somewhere on the pissed off chart, so it could've been someone told him that he couldn't have any more $12 hot dogs.

They always used to start every Raw with a tag of what city & venue they were in. It felt like a badge of honor, highlighting their ever continuing and broadening travels all over America.
I guess someone there thinks the WWE is bigger than most places now, so why advertise those cities & venues when they can just advertise themselves.

When they used to tape Smackdown in Florence, SC all the time, it was only referred to as South Carolina on TV all the time... I was in my state's geography bee in middle school (autographs are $20, line to the right please) and there's no way Florence is a real place in South Carolina *looks at autograph*
You misspelled my name...AND YOURS, TOO!
But seriously, this ain't new and I'm not shocked by this. I guess Vince doesn't want to seem 'small time'.

Not surprising. I wouldn’t mention any location that isn’t in southern California.

One famous one of these was when they were in Dayton Ohio for something(I think KOTR 95?) they would only refer to it as "the heartland of America".

What's even weirder is that some cities just don't even get certain shows. I laughed recently when KY wanted to get rid of the restrictive boxing and wrestling commission regulations that have kept WWE from doing major shows here. Good grief, WWE won't even run a Raw here anymore much less come here for WM or Summerslam. I think the last Raw that came here (Louisville) was in Dec. 2010, about a week after the Miz/Lawler ladder match. So Sioux Falls, SD gets Raw but Louisville doesn't? I really don't get it, especially since Louisville was typically one area where WWE could always draw pretty well even during the down years in the 90s. It really wasn't until they put the belt on Diesel that they failed to sell out the Gardens. Speaking on behalf of Sioux Falls. The people that run our arena/venue are very aggressive in getting big acts into this area. They have been working with WWE since before the PREMIER Center opened and have catered to whatever needs were there to bring a Smackdown and Raw to town. They have a great working relationship, and it's all through the management of the venue and WWE. WWE has ran five shows here in the 4.5 years that the venue has been open with two of those being TV. We are also a perfect secondary spot in regards to running Minneapolis (3.5 hours away) or Omaha (2.5 hours away) on a TV loop. The stuff with Louisville could come down to a few factors. It could just be that the people running the venue and WWE aren't on as good of terms or there isn't as much interest in bringing in a Raw/Smackdown. It could just be that the WWE doesn't want to run there with any of those restrictions against them (whatever they may be). It could just be that WWE finds better options/deals in other surrounding cities. It's hard telling without being around the arena, but it's typically more around that stuff than it is just attendance based. Each situation around the country is different, but there is a big reason that Sioux Falls gets a Raw while other cities don't. It's something that our venue has pushed for and will probably continue to push for moving forward. I'd be willing to say it's pretty safe to bet that Sioux Falls will be added on to the TV loop moving forward after the success of the Raw here (even if WWE doesn't acknowledge the city on TV).
