I'll always have the 1997 episode of Raw with Vince himself bellowing that "we're in Huntington, West by-god Virginia."

Sioux Falls. And while I've noticed they sometimes refrain from mentioning cities that aren't ''big time'', skipping the Sioux Falls mention is silly. I mean, don't even mention South Dakota, by that logic. Thanks. My bad.

Meltzer and Alvarez talked about it on their show today. f***ed up. This has gone on for a loooooong time. They don't run Chicago, they run Rosemount, but you'd better believe they say and show footage of downtown Chicago.

The last few times Raw or Smackdown were in Biloxi, they never made mention of the city.

I don't even slightly understand why they would do this.

I DVR'd Raw and just started watching it last night. The opening of the show didn't even have the Live/city graphic.

I don't even slightly understand why they would do this. Vince is a vindictive and petty old man with several undiagnosed mental health problems.

My favorite is “We’re on the campus of Ohio State University” instead of Columbus.

I don't even slightly understand why they would do this. The idea is that revealing you’re in a smaller town and not New York or Philly or wherever suggests that your product is small-time. It obviously is a reflection of Vince’s own insecurities.

What's even weirder is that some cities just don't even get certain shows. I laughed recently when KY wanted to get rid of the restrictive boxing and wrestling commission regulations that have kept WWE from doing major shows here. Good grief, WWE won't even run a Raw here anymore much less come here for WM or Summerslam. I think the last Raw that came here (Louisville) was in Dec. 2010, about a week after the Miz/Lawler ladder match.
So Sioux Falls, SD gets Raw but Louisville doesn't? I really don't get it, especially since Louisville was typically one area where WWE could always draw pretty well even during the down years in the 90s. It really wasn't until they put the belt on Diesel that they failed to sell out the Gardens.

My favorite line was in WCW when they were in Douglas, Wyoming. Larry Z said something on the line as "we are in the middle of nowhere".
That said, I don't see this as a big deal. Most people from smaller cities and suburbs always say they are from a major city near them.

Yeah, I was at the Raw on Monday, and I was told by friends that they didn't mention Sioux Falls once on TV. Like they don't give a shit about the small city markets.
Which is fair trade, since I don't give a shit about their "Golden Boy."

Raw was in Sioux City, South Dakota last night The first and second posts of this thread show why Vince has the mentality he does. Yep and as someone who lives in Sioux Falls you don't dare confuse Sioux Falls and Sioux City to anyone around here lol. But we tend to understand when someone outside of the upper midwest does mix them up considering they're 75 miles away. It's just par for the course for WWE though. They did that to us here in September when we hosted Smackdown for the first time as well. It is beyond stupid that they don't, and it isn't like Sioux Falls isn't on a national scene throughout the year. We host The Summit League Basketball Tournament each season. We hosted big events such as the NCAA D-I Women's Basketball Regional in 2016, the NCAA DII Men's Basketball Elite Eight basketball championships in 2017 and 2018. We also just got done hosting a NCAA D-I Men's Hockey Regional this past March. Oh, and we were recently awarded and are on the verge of hosting a PGA Champions Tour event this September. All of those events were/will be broadcasted live on national television, with all of those companies (ESPN/CBS) showcasing the city of Sioux Falls. No other organization has an issue talking about Sioux Falls on national television. The venue that Raw was held in on Monday has seen almost all top touring concert acts. Garth Brooks sold out 9 shows in Sioux Falls (highest among markets of the size) last September. The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center has hosted artists such as Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Motley Crue, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and that's not even all of them. Metallica, Def Leppard, Smashing Pumpkins, and Lynyrd Skynyrd are all on the upcoming schedule for Sioux Falls. Talking with the staff of the PREMIER Center, they've always relayed to me that the WWE loves the venue and the attendance that we get here. Ever since the venue opened in 2014, they have been in the building each year and the shows have grown each time. WWE has always been impressed with the setup/teardown help they get, and also with how great the venue is set up to host their TV production. Point being is that this city they deem is too "hidden" or "unknown" is not nearly as much as what they think. Sure, some might mix it up with Sioux City (which has also hosted numerous Raws before) at times, but it isn't as much of a hidden place as it was 20 years ago. Hopefully in the future when they bring TV shows here they start to acknowledge it. But even if they don't, the population of this city will continue to grow astronomically each year and the events will continue to follow.

I was in my state's geography bee in middle school (autographs are $20, line to the right please) and there's no way Florence is a real place in South Carolina It's a small ass town I'll give you that. It's more infamous in WWE lore as the place where In Your House: Beware of Dog was held. Well...the first part of it at least. That giant rainstorm led to ante-tape in my hometown of North Charleston. It was the first WWF show i ever attended as a 6 year old!

Remember when Wrestlemania was in New Jersey and they made every effort to insist they were in New York?

And when they're in the Nassau Coliseum, it's always "Long Island, NY." Not Uniondale, the actual town. LI is not this one homogenous block. It'd be like saying "Broward County" instead of Ft. Lauderdale.

Remember when Wrestlemania was in New Jersey and they made every effort to insist they were in New York? Everyone calls MetLife Stadium part of New York... I mean the NEW YORK Giants and NEW YORK Jets play there. It was also labelled as NY/NJ.

Remember when Wrestlemania was in New Jersey and they made every effort to insist they were in New York? Met Life Stadium is as close to Midtown Manhattan as the Barclays Center is.
