I wonder how the Last Jedi detractors (the “hardcore” ones making clickhate videos on YouTube and harassing people on Twitter, mind you) will reckon with the fact that ROS is getting bad reviews. Based on what little has come across my Twitter feed, they're orgasming with delight. Though by all accounts {Spoiler}The film basically sounds like it caters to them, so they’re really just laughing at a movie that apparently they wanted.

It's hard to explain, but these films have just been 'soulless' to me. It's like a screenwriting AI came up with a script.
I've watched the first two and would be hard pressed to think of any event or character I care about in the least.

I have learned to approach these movies without any expectations. I just relax and try to enjoy what I get.
The brilliance of the originals will never be diminished for me.

That's what happens you have something created because you need to make money with your Star Wars IP rather than having an interesting story to tell.

I really never saw this getting below at least, like, 90%. Just due to being the big finale and all, plus to avoid potentially pissing off fanboys, kind of thought almost nobody would be wanting to trash it. Granted guess movie could just be a lot worse than I expected it to be, really was thinking it was probably going to be pretty decent.
Either way really, really not looking forward to all of the, "See, having a female protagonist killed the franchise, it only took two of the most successful movies ever that were both super well-reviewed first!" chest-beating over this from the usual idiots.

I really don't see how, it sounds like it is as full of incoherent ass-pull decisions as TLJ was. And stuff like {Spoiler}Rey and Kylo suddenly being able to bring people back to life even though Anakin was never able to, and Rey and Kylo kissing is definitely not something the minority fringe of people who didn't like TLJ would like. Most people who didn't like TLJ, or TFA for that matter, just want a good Star Wars movie.

If the 55% score holds, only The Phantom Menace is rated lower, and I'd note that the Phantom Menace scores were in the 60s until the 3-D re-release.
Somehow, Attack of the Clones sits at 65%.

If Rey were Rey Mysterio instead, this would be the best reviewed film of the year.

And here we are.
I’m still gonna wait a week, but it’s crazy for this to begin to come into fruition. Still think I could end up liking it, but it’s crazy to see the score that low (some were calling it to be in the 50s last night).
People gotta judge it for itself. And I hope people don’t tear each other apart, we have such an abundance and plethora of that already within the Star Wars community. For better, and for worse, this is what Lucasfilm and Disney have given us. Aim love and/or criticism at them.

I saw the leaks and ending vid and I will say that Vince McMahon wouldve written the movie better.

Only until recently I recalled from reading peeps online talk about it that AOTC was initially liked after TPM: jango, the obi-wan plot in particular were praised. After time the love angle and “boring” criticism started to hold the high ground as it were.

If Rey were Rey Mysterio instead, this would be the best reviewed film of the year. Instead of a lightsaber, he just fights Kylo Ren with the pipe.

I think ending with Yoda doing his flippy shit really went a long way towards having people leaving the movie on a high.

Was still in High School but still: Yoda with a lightsaber and the barrage of Jedi and lightsabers in the arena battle blew my mind. Now, not so much haha

If Rey were Rey Mysterio instead, this would be the best reviewed film of the year. I guess he earned enough money from Spiderman: Far From Home

I remember the critical consensus for AOTC at the time was "Everything is pretty meh until the big fights start on Geonosis and those are great. OMG Yoda has a lightsaber!"
