There's a Papa John's where I live. They only deliver within a half mile radius, and their shop is situated in one of the least-populated areas of the city. Even the mom-and-pop kebab place across the road from them delivers to the whole city.
Really, what kind of chain pizza place basically doesn't deliver?

At work there was a local place I’d order from. Across the street. Sometimes they’d still charge delivery. f***ers. I couldn’t leave to go get it. I know they need cash, but it was literally across the street. Come on now.

There's a Dominos right across the street from the hotel I work in, and despite never being especially busy due to being on the outskirts of the city (there's two in the city centre plus a Pizza Hut and two Pizza Express' that take up 90% of the business) they won't spare someone for the 45 seconds it takes to get from there to the front desk and back again, so on the rare occasion when I get pizza at work I either have to do so before I start my shift and eat cold or microwave-reheated pizza, or order extra items I don't eat to spend the minimum required to get it delivered.

It’s not very big up here in Canada but I walked into one in Toronto this past weekend for the first time and grabbed a couple slices and thought it was pretty good.
You want shit pizza try Pizza Pizza in Ontario.

I live in an area with good local pizza so I avoid the chains anyway. But if I have to go for chain, I'll usually go for Domino's or, grease be damned, Pizza Hut (though they all seem to have closed around here). I always thought Papa John's sucked. Something about the dough they use that's really off. Sauce and toppings aren't much better.
There is also a certain irony about Schnatter's downfall coming about because he used the N-word on a conference call specifically about rehabilitating his public image. And the example he used of a famous restaurateur (KFC's "Colonel" Harland Sanders) using the n-word wasn't even right. Sanders was never recorded saying the N-word, and according to his biographers, he didn't have a racist bone in his body.
Oh and he's also gone from the University of Louisville's board of trustees, which I'm sure Rick Pitino will be happy to hear once the news reaches him in his castle in the Carpathian Mountains.

See for me Lil Caesar's was always the bottom. Might just be I had a good Papa John's by me when I lived out in TX. Honestly now if I get pizza it is usually from the local place. Sure it is 20 a pizza but it is way better than the other choices in this town, which are Pizza Hutt,Dominos and Hunt Brothers. For years I hate Dominoes but they changed their pizzas what 10 years ago and they really improved. Little Caesars is fine, for the price. It’s $5. I’m not throwing that huge of a bitch fit. The mild, uncontrollable shitting after is part of the experience. KFC, same deal, just more expensive. Was..was that a Let's Go to Prison reference?

I liked the pizza just fine, but I became reluctant to give him money after learning how much of a POS he actually was. That was before it came out that his company was found to be stealing money from his own employees. That was before he showed himself to be racist.
F*** that guy with a rusty implement.

Never could stand their pizza, I've won or been given gift cards to their place before. I'd spend it on the chicken tenders and the breadsticks or garlic knots because those were at least decent. Pizza Hut was always much, much better.

Btw, the conference call in question was with a PR firm who was contracted to clean up his image. The racist term came up when he was asked to explain how he would separate himself from white nationist groups. He complained about Col Sanders not getting blowback in the 60’s and 70’s for being racist.
He also reminisced about how it was socially acceptable to murder black people by dragging them behind pickup trucks around where he grew up in southern IN, making my home state look even worse than usual (a real feat, tbh).
It offended the staff at the PR firm bad enough that they complained to their company’s owner, who voided their contract with Papa Johns over that conference call. It is really bad when a PR firm who specializes in cleaning up bad public images deems you and your money not worth their time.

One time we had papa johns with some friends, and I decided to set aside my political bias and judge it on its own merit.
..........holy crap was it bad pizza. It's cardboard drenched in oil. This jerk didn't need to say the n-word for me to dislike him. The fact that he makes such terrible "food" offends me enough.

It was and probably still is pretty awful pizza. I wonder if they'll re-name the chain now?

I remember being excited to try it because it did look delicious on TV. My excitement turned to sorrow when I ate a piece and realized it was f***ing terrible and a 3-year old kid could make better pizza with play doh and ketchup.

Wow, thought I was the only one with that issue. The Papa John's is technically in another town but it's fairly close to my house. (I just checked, it's 3.4 miles away) And they wouldn't deliver to us. Is 3.4 miles too far?
