Well that was a pile of cliche-ridden on-the-nose-written garbage. And I’m no prude but I don’t need casual f-bombs in my Star Trek.
Super DUPER secret Romulan police protecting a super duper secret
Problem with artificial life
Borg cube
Are they going in a “Romulans created the Borg” direction?

The people with the miracle healing planet being considered less fortunate. Ha! That's rich. God I hated the Baku so much. So sanctimonious, I sided with the Son'a.

Re: TrekCore
I see their point, but they begin their rebuttal with a strawman..
"We've always thought of Starfleet and the Federation as this wonderful, utopian society"
No, we haven't.
As for their examples, some are valid, some are at least disputable, which is the beauty of Trek at its best, to allow for debate. Very different from a writer beating the viewer over the head with clunky preaching.
Hugh - Could easily be argued that it was a case of self defence against a lethal enemy. Even Deanna Troi was open to the suggestion.
Maquis - Caused massive dissension within Starfleet, with many arguments and defections.
Romulan/Dominion War - The whole episode is basically Sisko's confession, even if it's only to himself. It's one of the greatest examinations of morality in Trek history.
Baku - This mission caused outrage among the crew when they discovered what was occurring, and Doherty got his comeuppance brutally.
AI Rights - Was challenged in "Measure of a Man" in a memorable way. It ended with justice prevailing and Maddox seeing the error of his ways, which has been undermined unfortunately. Go ask Melinda Snodgrass what she thinks of this. It was challenged again in the exocomp episode, and in the episode with Lal, among others.
The Cartwright/Leyton Conspiracies - Rogue operations. The CinC supported the Khitomer plan, and two of the conspirators weren't even representing the Federation, and the Federation president was extremely concerned about Leyton's security measures, as was Captain Benteen when she refused to destroy Defiant.

Any theories on the Zhat Vash secret?
My favorite idea so far is that the Romulans experimented with synthetic life in the past, resulting in the Vulcans who drove them off world
Or that Surak was an AI (but I think he was firmly established as a real dude in Enterprise.)
Confirmed that several of the Enterprise crew is alive, but no mention of Dr. Crusher.

Episode 3 dropped yesterday.
I feel like the show is really hit and miss. Raffi (really?) and Rios are both very heavily cliched characters.
Phasers, phasers everywhere in Picards house. It sure was nice of the Zhat Vash guy to make small talk before dissolving himself.
I do like Rios's interactions with the emergency holograms. Since they each have different accents, I hope if there is an engineering hologram it has a Scottish one. His ship also has a really nice design.
I don't trust Dr. Jurati at all, but I almost feel like trusting her because it is so obvious that we should not trust her.

The series is off to a really slow start. I think they've done reasonably well setting up the post-Romulus, post-Borg universe, but there's definitely some teething problems.
With the crooked Starfleet and the Romulans after Picard and his ragtag crew it almost feels like Star Trek trying to be Firefly, complete with Mal, Zoe, Simon and River stand-ins.

I can't say I'm thrilled about {Spoiler}Picard being in the early stages of the terminal illness he had in "All Good Things", knowing that working on Logan was the ultimate inspiration for Stewart to want to return to Star Trek. Seeing his death dragged out over 3+ seasons is going to suck.

Fun easter egg....er.... Gorn egg With Picard's resume including being referenced as "Chief contact with the Q Continuum" I have to guess we'll see Q at some point.

If he does show up, I can't wait to hear him lampshade looking older. They could just do what they did with Data for that. And at the very least if he appears he's had practice in the past decade playing a being very similar to Q.

I want it to be Junior if we get a Q. And have him do nothing but provide Picard with minor inconveniences.

Given the obviousness of some of the writing, I'm going with Jurati being blackmailed into being a spy, but ultimately choosing the good side at a key moment.

Well, episode 4 dropped. And we get another regular to the crew. {Spoiler}I could be wrong, but is this the first on-screen beheading that we've seen on Trek? Also, nice way to continue using the Earth set.

Well, it's definitely staring to show some life, though I'm finding myself less interested in Soji's part of the story. Still, I find Picard's crew very likeable, and Frakes almost always delivers when he's directing Trek.
Jeri Ryan looks fantastic. Never cared much for Seven on Voyager outside of her interactions with the Doctor, but I'm keen to see how she's become more of a regular human again.
The next episode looks wild.

Oh good, a stock fantasy elf character
I’m leaning towards Rios also being a hologram. Looks like he finally leaves the ship in the next episode, but if Freecloud is a big holodeck...

Fifth episode was a delight. Felt almost like classic TNG. Can we just have Frakes direct the whole series? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}And best of all, no scenes on the Borg cube.
