New show called Star Trek: Riker and it's just him doing Jonathan Frakes' shtick from Beyond Belief. There's a lot of chatter about an Enterprise-F spinoff featuring Seven and Riker. Frakes looks about ten years younger now that he's lost weight and looks completely reinvigorated, and for all Picard's critics most people agree Seven has been a great addition.

{Spoiler}He was only present for one day of shooting, so looks like he'll be a relatively minor character.

If there isn't a Riker Maneuver in Season 3 I'm going to complain on the internet

When can we expect to see Robert Picard? He died during Generations, so probably only in a flashback. If that.

The truth is even dumber than that. I have actually never seen TNG or this show, I just remember seeing an episode back when I spent a few months living at a Motel 6 when I was a kid where Picard had a brother named Robert and it was burned into my brain.

Maybe they can use clones, but have the naming conventions of starships, you'd have Robert Picard, Robert Picard-A etc. for drama have it so they've gone through a few, trying to perfect the procedure, and we end up with Robert Picard-O.

The date of the F's launch is {Spoiler}two years after the battle in Prodigy's finale, so it's likely that was the E's classified final mission. I don't particularly like that they're both introducing and immediately writing off a "new" Enterprise.

First episode dropped tonight. Lots to like about it. {Spoiler}Beverly Crusher: John Wick of the 25th Century blasting fools with a phaser shotgun. Nice.
Jonathan Frakes channelling Lower Decks Riker was a delight, as was the banter with Picard ("Who wants to hear an old fart talk about boldly going for the past 250 years?"/"I'm giving a speech, too."/"And it'll be great!" and "Nice recovery, Admiral."/"Shut it, Will." had me chuckling). Really nailed the camaraderie.
Spacedock. Gotta love it.
Raffi as a deep cover spy is a good way to keep her involved in the story.
Captain "Don't Call Me Negan" Shaw is wonderfully dickish.
Picard made Beverly a mixtape.
The music, with homages to Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner, is excellent. Reusing the First Contact theme is always welcome. Speculation: {Spoiler}Beverly makes a point of disintegrating the alien bodies. Making sure to get the parasites inside?Troi and Kestra want a break from Riker, suggesting he's got the itch to explore again and is miserable being stuck at home. Picard points out Riker is enjoying himself on their adventure, Shaw pointedly reminds him that he's a captain without a ship, and Riker is impressed by Seven. Those rumours of a Seven and Riker-led spinoff get stronger. Worf is clearly Raffi's handler. Geordi is in charge of the Fleet Museum. According to the credits, the Enterprise-A, Voyager, and the Defiant are kept there. We know from Season 2 that the Enterprise-D's saucer section is also kept there, and LeVar Burton confirmed last year that the crew spent three days filming on the Enterprise-D bridge set. With the "Not my first, but my favourite" line from Picard and the disrespect shown to "the fat ones", the D is coming to the rescue at the end of the season. Ed Speeler's name in the credits is overlaid a DNA strand with the label "Picard: DNA Base Pairs", while Gates McFadden's name is overlaid a micro-neurographic scan, which was used to detect Picard's Irumodic syndrome in "All Good Things". In case the point isn't driven home further the credits also feature a (command) red RNA strand and a (sciences) blue RNA strand joining together. Jack Crusher is almost certainly Picard and Beverly's kid, tying together Picard's realisation in Generations that his family line would end with his death and his line in this episode about "not needing a legacy." Not so keen on yet another "Don't trust Starfleet" conspiracy.

Yeah, that was very good. {Spoiler}Have to adjust to everything being set twenty or so years after 'TNG' when more accurately it's been twenty or so years since Nemesis, would this indicate TNG and the movies took place in the same calendar?
Picard fell out with Beverly over 20 years ago and we're introduced to her second son, who's also 20 years...and let's call back to what Picard said about not wanting a legacy...poor choice of words Jean-Luc, doesn't take Sherlock to deduce this.
My headcanon is Shaw had a little too much to drink, hence why he slept in while Seven redirected the Titan. Real stretch of logic there, wouldn't Shaw have told the crew NOT to head to the system if Picard and Riker tried to request it? And wouldn't they have reported Seven immediately if he had?
First Contact theme for the end credits!

First Contact theme for the end credits! {Spoiler}TNG takes place from 2364-2370. The movies take place in 2371 (Generations), 2373 (First Contact), 2375 (Insurrection), and 2379 (Nemesis). Picard S1 takes place in 2399, S2 in 2401, and S3 appears to take place no earlier than 2402 and no later than 2403.
Shaw was definitely testing Seven. They clearly do not get along; him forcing her to deadname herself and the venom in his voice when he told her that her loyalty is not to "ex-Borg" suggests a deep hatred of the borg and is looking for any excuse to be rid of her, so when she disobeys his order he gets exactly what he wants.
