f***ing right. That shit sounds like a "ok this is the second match of the night" type of thing. They didn't have an amazing match. This shit better not go on for 3 more months. Well the problem is Miz has charisma but he's not a great wrestler... he's rather basic in the ring... It's why I believe that upper mid card gatekeeper is rather the perfect fit for him. There've been quite a few top guys who've been little more than basic in the ring, though. Hell, Braun Strowman is one of the most popular guys in WWE right now and he's just basic. And almost everyone wants him to be THE guy on RAW. Miz being basic shouldn't hold him back in terms of whether he deserves a world title run or not.

You're opening post is flawed because Rusev was never going to be champion. That was never in the cards that match was pretty clearly setup to be the midcarder challenges for the world title and loses after a good effort match perhaps setting stuff up for something later (knowing how the WWE has operated recently the answer is no.) But that's not on AJ. I liked most of the Shinsuke vs. AJ matches with one the exception of the stupidest ending in Wrestling history (they didn't blow me away but I liked them)... and think Shinsuke should have won at some point in there. Didn't see the match tonight so can't comment... but also knowing the WWE Joe will have like 3 more chances... Nah you're misunderstanding me here. In the OP when I mentioned "we could have had-" I'm referring to the opponents Styles faced as he defended the belt. I'm not saying that Rusev was going to win (as I and everyone said he was losing) nor did I say that it was on AJ at all. I'm not even saying Rusev would be a great champion. I'm saying that rather than having Styles as champion this long we could have had someone else hold the title which freshens storylines up. I'm not saying "well this guy was ready so-" and that type of situation.
One thing remains and it's the fact that AJ is still world champion and we've seen that for so long let alone with the type of character he is. It's not enough diversity with the title hence why more and more people are saying they want someone else to hold the belt. It's not a matter of how good the matches are but it's about switching things up because it does get stale.

It's giving me really unfortunate reminders to Mizdow where after ages of build they ended up not having a lot of chemistry at all. Yeah it's weird. They really don't have great chemistry. Like if you cut the match in half it would be much better but something about that match felt off.

Joe has yet to have a great match on main roster, rusev was never going to win and i'm glad that he did not, shinsuke should have won but that is not here or there but the idea that aj is in that "spoiler aj wins" territory is laughable, braun deserves that tag much more then aj does

Even it was for a month, I'd love to see Joe with the belt.
But it's looking like Miz-Bryan for Mania 35 with the title on the line.

I have no problem with AJ as champ. They did more to make me interested in this feud tonight than the entire build leading up to it. Giving Joe a run with the belt would be pretty cool.

I can't speak with authority on this because I've not gone back and watched their Night of Champions match since it happened in 2010. But I remember it being well-received. I think the problem with their Summerslam match was booking, not them. It's supposed to be this heated, personal feud and it was just a decent back and forth. I think that was intentional. I think they were booked to not steal the show. I may be proven wrong but I'm willing to give them one more match, at least, before I call them out. As for Styles, I liked his match with Joe more than Bryan vs Miz. But he should have lost.

Miz will win it at survivor series. The seeds have already been planted for a feud. Miz and Bryan will headliner Wrestlemania 35. Barf.

I don't understand the argument on whether anyone is good enough for a belt. They mean so little in WWE, and have often been given to such marginal talent, that I don't understand why this is still seen as a legitimate argument.
Give Miz the belt. Give Rusev the belt. None of this matters.

Like if you cut the match in half it would be much better but something about that match felt off. It actually wasn't a bad match at all, the issue was that the crowd was so deflated it felt like the match was dragging. You're not wrong they should have cut it in half, with the crowd reception they were getting they had very limited means to engage them back in especially with the finish they had planned.

I had no problem with tonight's match. Great match with great storytelling that'll propel it forward to HIAC.

Not even the booking; everything in-ring tonight felt really off, like they're telling everyone on the roster to slow it down and hold it way back. Tonight didn't even have the good matches that can usually excuse WWE's shit booking, it just kind of completely fell apart. Really f***ing good wrestlers are having bland or "just okay" matches and there's no explanation for it.

I'd rather have AJ vs Bryan at WM than Bryan vs Miz.
If the end game was the go with Styles vs. Bryan I'll gladly ride out this championship reign b/c that match is not only main event worthy (sit down "Rebellious Workhorse") but it' sounds MUCH better than Bryan vs. Miz again. If they'd saved it until Mania, maybe, but after tonight? Nah.

I'm ready for the belt to be off him, but at least this match made sense in terms of storytelling, thats more than I can say for a lot of WWE matches.

We've managed to escape one homophobic world champion, let's get rid of the other.

I thought it was a good match, not great but I figured this feud would go on for a few more months.

I really don't understand this. I mean... I've SEEN Styles have amazing matches with Joe. I've seen him have an amazing match with Swag. He's spent the last two years having great matches with the likes of Reigns, Cena, and Shane f***ing McMahon. So why does it seem like almost everything he's done so far in 2018 has felt so... mediocre? Because your expectation is to see a 6 star Tokyo Dome match between AJ/Nak and AJ/Joe and when the match is only between 3-4 stars you're obviously disappointed. I doubt you had those expectations for AJ/Reigns, AJ/Cena and especially AJ/Shane

AJ vs Joe was great and leads into a rematch at HIAC.

This thread is weird because any othe suggestion for someone taking the belt from AJ is met with replies of “no not him either!”. Well, someone has to be champ.

I disagree. I’m still very happy AJ Styles is WWE champion. Just being able to type that made me happy. If it helps, every time you start to get tired of his reign, remember who was the last champion.
