It was the Brazillian twist, the tribal twinge that brought me into Sepultura. That was all Max. When he left and was replaced by Generic American Cookie Monster Singer, it lost all its uniqueness for me and became interchangable with the nu-metal tripe. Jed Shaffer ~Now I have a sudden urge for some Sep. And a 5 hour trip with the wife and two babies is not the time to indulge ...

Anthrax. I'm the Man and Bring tha Noise ruled my life for a while.
The other three are excellent, although I like some more than others. And if I ever saw Lars Ulrich on the street, I would walk over to him and punch him in the throat, strong style.

I haven't actually heard Cryptic Writings, but Risk is beyond awful. If you think nobody craps on Mustaine for those two albums, go to any heavy metal forum or review site. In fact, Dave even admitted that Writings and Risk were only done for the money and that Risk was a mistake. But you dont see anywhere near the backlash against Megadeth for moving their music mainstream than Metallica did. That's because Mustaine admitted the mistake instead of continuing the trend, like Metallica. Megadeth has since put out good heavy music, Metallica hasn't done anything right in 20 years. Plus, Megadeth recorded Rust in Peace, which makes up for any mistakes they may ever make. And I agree, Sepultura is one of the finest thrash bands of all time. Chaos AD and Beneath the Remains crush from start to finish. Chaos AD is my second favorite thrash record, right behind Rust in Peace.

Metallica.
As others have stated, Megadeth's too inconsistent. Anthrax is good, I just prefer Metallica's thrash material more. Slayer is the fastest out of everyone, but I like understandable vocals and smart lyrics behind a fast beat. Slayer's releases in the 80s didn't always have those qualities, but Metallica did.
Side-note: Wasn't Testament considered one of the big four of thrash? I think they were, just one of the other bands became more popular... If only I had been a teenager at that time...

The "Big Four" were Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. To a lesser degree around the same time you had bands like Testament and Exodus.
Proud to say I've seen everyone of those bands live, in thier prime. Even saw Metallica with Cliff Burton twice. Saw "Clash of the Titans" in '91 with Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, and Alice in Chains..Saw Testament in a little club in '89, saw Exodus in a bowling alley in '88.
Wow, I'm elderly.

I voted Megadeth.
If Megadeth wasn't an option, I would've voted for Slayer.
Then, Anthrax.
Then.. Metallica.. *spits*

I know he left around '92, but he's been back with them since then a few times...

Gene Hoglan was on drums as well, which would have made sense since SYL also played that show.

What do Ya'll consider Biohazard? They are a great band. Personally I think Biohazard were great on the first few albums, but then everyone started copying that style. Now even those first few albums sound a little dated to me.
