I’d be pretty well shocked if there wasn’t some verbiage in the arena contract that gives priority to the team THAT THE ARENA WAS BUILT FOR.

That too, but even then he coulda had most people going: "well that kinda sucks of the NBA" had he not then been such an absolute toddler.
But he's always weird when he acts like people that watch this shit take any slights of the WWE personally as well.

The one time everyone is on his side and he blows it Correct....I turned on the show based on that premise and hoping that a few extra viewers would help give it some strong ratings numbers. Then Vince did THAT promo and I turned it off right after.

I can't imagine if you'd bought a ticket weeks/months in advance to see some rasslin, and then have to deal with all night of that petty bullshit.

The only thing the NBA could've done was delay the game a day so Raw could have the arena for a night. But even then, you might have accusations of other playoff teams of the NBA playing favorites by giving the Lakers and Nuggets an extra day of rest. And besides, the NBA is under no obligation to disrupt their playoffs to accommodate an unrelated business because the arena's owners didn't have the foresight to prevent such a scheduling conflict.
It was a big screwup on the arena's part, so of course Vince had to be the pettiest person ever and immediately piss away that good will even though he was completely in the right. But it did give us the Batista basketball promo.

At one point I made a list, almost certainly not a complete one, of every time I could recall Vince using his product as a platform for soapboxing or grinding axes in a way that didn't further any angles or benefit the performers. From minor instances to major ones, he's done shit like this a lot.
For all the great things he's done for the business, the guy's also a massive manchild.

If the steroid trial had happened in say 99, there would have been just some embarrassing tv.

Didn't they offer him the night before as a compromise, but he complained and threw a fit?

Vince is a tough guy in kayfabe only. He's all for screwing the smaller guys around him, but the moment he gets any sort of push back he can't handle it and has to lash out and blame someone, because he has the delusion that toughness means you're never wrong. Whereas if he actually had balls he'd be able to handle it like an actual adult instead of his usual transparent grandstanding bullshit.

Like I don't agree with Vince acting like a petulant child... But what exactly was all this "Good Will" supposed to get him??? I'd imagine that having to move the show cost him and the WWE money and at the very least a massive headache. I wonder if the actual details of how this happened and how all the entities involved dealed with it (in a business and what no sense, not the garbage Vince decided to present on RAW) has ever seen the light of day? Did the arena have to pay for the cost of moving RAW to LA? Stuff like that. I always wondered.

If the steroid trial had happened in say 99, there would have been just some embarrassing tv. On one hand yes, on the other hand I don't think anything short of actually just case-making incriminating evidence accidentally being given like on Raw could top Steph's f***ing 9/11 speech. They could have dressed Gilberg up as a syringe and had him get squashed and it would barely even be a blip in hindsight once that madness dropped.

Wasn't this the same show where they had a random and terrible Jack Nicholson impersonator appear for no reason?
It was the worst Raw I've seen. Vince basically put every story on hold to take some crap shots at the Nuggets. It was TNA level embarrassing.

Was Vince being a manchild? Yes he was. But he did have some creative ways to get it out of his system that night, the 10 man tag was a lot of fun. Batista had a basketball. I figured the entire board would forgive this show for that one moment

Yeah.....since he is usually at the Lakers games, they trotted out a cheapo impersonator. I remember that this RAW was a chore to sit thru, and I thought to myself "Well, these are going to be a few hours of my life that I'll never get back."
