yeah i think i know what the problem was with the DC cinema universe ..... the DC television universe! having the same IP doing two different things was and will NEVER WORK
let marvel have the big picture ..... DC should have stuck with the small ..... THEN take it to the big!
this would make for a more legitimate justice league setup .....

They've done different things. IF you're talking about well they're confused over there being Two Flashes or something... well no. Because if they used the Flash TV series as a starting point you'd just leave a shitload of people confused. because every time someone has made a Television show, or a book, or some other media required to follow the plot of something it has fallen on it's ass. Because more people watch movies than are going to see the TV show. For proof of this... Most people who watched Episode 2 had no idea who the Asthmatic robot was.

and pretty fed up of all y'all ribbing on that one kevin costner bit in man of steel *see last post* i thought it was the BEST SCENE in the entire movie! It was a stupid scene and goes against the entire reason why they kill off Pa Kent in most versions of the story. "You can't save everyone... but try to save the ones you can." Clark can save someone from a tornado that he's staring at. He can't stop a heart attack, or watch them 24/7 so he's not in a bad car wreck or other minor things that happen to humans especially if he's not there. For me the best scene and only real scene I liked in that movie was when he learned to fly... it's about the 1 minute of footage he felt like Superman in that entire stupid movie. edit: oh I also liked the "you are my son" when Clark is freaking out about being adopted... that's also probably the 1 time Costner felt like Pa Kent too.

What should've been the humanising point where Clark realises no matter how many powers he has, there's some things he can not prevent.. Instead we got Pa Kent effectively committing suicide because he's scared Clark will be treated differently than 'normal' kids. But tornados are more visually appealing, bro.

Just put Pa and Ma both in danger. "Save your mother."
Fixed.

Just put Pa and Ma both in danger. "Save your mother Martha." Fixed. Double Fixed! It's like foreshadowing! <_< >_> But yeah... that fixes most of the problems with the scene and at least some of Pa's terrible characterization in that movie.

The really frustrating thing with Man of Steel is that the bones of a good movie are there. A more serious, introspective movie about Clark finding himself and his place in a world that doesn't automatically trust him isn't a bad idea at all. It was just ruined by poor writing, unlikeable characters, and some stupid visual-effects-over-logical-storytelling decisions by Snyder and Goyer.

It was just ruined by poor writing, unlikeable characters, and some stupid visual-effects-over-logical-storytelling decisions by Snyder and Goyer. I mean I was just thinking of minor edits that would fix at least some of my problems with the movie ... them basically killing their Villain in the opening 10 minutes... Jor-el gets his ass kicked by Zod instead but manages to stall long enough for the guards to come... it doesn't kill off the menace of Zod or the "my god Clark can't beat him he's this super soldier that's had combat in his DNA literally for centuries..." plotline cause again... a Scientist doesn't beat his ass in the opening 10 minutes. Clark Kent: What was I supposed to do? Let them die? Kent: No of course not... but you've got to be careful people will be scared of that side of you... (or something) pretty much literally anything than him saying "maybe" the Tornado thing as stated earlier. remove the scene about Zod throwing Checkov's gun out the window and have that be part of how he defeats him... I mean most of my other problems with Zod still exist like the Master Strategist bringing the only mission critical piece of equipment into battle... him deciding he had to Terraform Earth the only known inhabited planet in the solar system and therefore the only place where people have a chance of stopping you... not to mention changing it to Krypton's atmosphere removing probably the biggest strength a guy intent on Martial Law would want a nigh unstable army of literal Supermen that would be loyal to him... but like I said it's a start.

This is more good news than anything. For both parties. Cavill has a chance to break out, do Witcher, any other projects and oh man, Craig's time as Bond is coming up, what a coinky-dink...
And the D.C. Cinematic Universe is such a congested, stumbling mess that they have time to replace him. Cavill was just about as a perfect archetype to play Supes but there's potential in bringing new life to the part. Same with Bats.

WB is talkin bout Michael B Jordan down the road; which leads me to think they're fulla shit and know there's gonna be backlash and Jordan has the one-two punch of being a respected actor and the possibility of his casting gives the illusion of them bein progressive. Plus ya gotta think he'd think twice bout bein a "white" hero given the Torch. Eh. Nothing says Superman has to be white. I think he does. I've always said he's one of about four characters I think HAVE to be white (Him, Batman, Captain America and Iron Fist). A big part of what makes Superman three dimensional is his naivety sometimes. He's the son of a flyover farm family who has a rose tinted version of what the world is, and what it's potential is and some of the best stuff with him is when his idealism butts up against the realities of the world. I like a Superman with all the power, all the physical ability to change the world but someone who is still figuring out the right way to act in it. That sort of privelaged position where you have that sort of outlook on the world...I dunno, it's difficult for a poor black kid from Kansas to have that same view. It's a different world for that kid.

It's true that a well-written Superman and Batman (who we gotta keep strong) would do the trick just as well. But it's just interesting that the DC movies that have/proved to have the most potential are or will be the ones who have not been explored on the big screen. Not to encourage them to keep copying, but isn't this what worked out for Marvel? Making fresh movies of characters who were known but not like their heavy hitters?
Regarding the DCTVU: other thing is, you know, that was so much better. I still say they could have used that with their cinematic universe and do Crisis.
I was going to compare Wonder Woman to WCW forming the NWO...but we've long been at Impact/TNA levels for WB here.
/If Marvel DOES pick up Cavill, would that make him their AJ Styles, then?

P.S. again time for my disclaimer: I don't HATE DC. I do wish they would succeed. Cause theirs were the first superheroes I knew of, due to ironically, their other-media presence in the 70s and 80s. And the Trinity were iconic characters long before Marvel was a thing.

Eh, you could make a black dude a naive farm kid too. Not inherently white. When I said illusion of progressive, I meant WB goin: "oh and we might make Superman a black guy at some point! Down the road!" which is what the reports are sayin. Like they know the Cavil news will be received negatively so they want to put a positive spin.

Too bad, Cavill was right for the role but was stuck with a director who didn’t understand the role. Not Cavill’s fault Just like Brandon Routh. Oh Warner! Where's the timeline on rebooting Chris Hemsworth as Thor?

Even Pa's'maybe let em drown' coulda worked if he immediately said'no of course don't let em drown, be more careful.'
There is good in the movie, even with Pa. "You ARE my son" was great.

I am such a huge fan of the movies Batman, Superman and Superman II. They were comic books that came to life when I was a kid. This new DC Universe has been such a mess. I wish they’d scrap the whole thing and start new. I know they won’t. They’ll keep pumping out more polished turds until the wheels fall off. Warner looks so bad here. They tried to jump on Marvel’s success with their universe and totally fumbled the build for it and the quality of what it easily could have been. Now they see the success of Black Panther and apparently think they can cast a black Superman to cash in on its popularity too. Marvel looks like the best house on Halloween giving out the candy everybody wants while DC looks like a desperate crackhead looking to score.
