I liked this more than I thought I was going to.
I am curious how much the final product was a direct result of COVID, resulting in the large sections of Lebron James being animated, the sampling of other Warner Bros properties, and people pretty obviously green screened into the same room together.
Don Cheadle is an absolute joy to watch as the evil algorithm.

Lebron said last year they had already finished the live action portions before COVID and that the only thing remaining was the animation/after-effects.

In that case, it was shot really awkwardly in places.

I think filming goes as far back as 2019 for the basketball sequences.

Finished it. Definitely not bad...but that ending left me confused {Spoiler}How badass would it have been to kill off Bugs for real? But it seems that ending was thrown together awfully half-heartedly. Maybe test audiences freaked?

Maybe test audiences freaked? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}There is no way that anybody involved in the production of Space Jam 2 ever seriously pitched the idea of "hey, what if we kill off Bugs Bunny for realsies?". If it felt half-hearted that's because it was half-hearted. It was an hour and 45 minute commercial, nobody was putting any more effort into this then was absolutely necessary.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I get what the intent was, really, it's just I've seen a lot of other films with this kind of ending actually bother to explain it a bit better, and how it involved the other Tunes coming over with him (which we see in the photographs during the credits), was it when Bugs turned into Dinobot's spark that all of them were transported to Earth? Is it meant to be open to interpretation?

don't overthink the ending. just go with it

As much as I didn't think the movie was great, LeBron wasn't the problem. He was fine.

I mean, I guess Pytka has the right to whine a little after having to listen to Chuck Jones bitch about the original movie all those years ago.

don't overthink the ending. just go with it {Spoiler}{Spoiler}But everything you described, however bizarre or 'loony', had a logic and purpose behind all of it, you knew how to get from Point A to point B. With this? There's just very little that explained it's necessity.
All I'm saying it looked, to me, that they were going to end the film on a surprise death for Bugs and then tacked something more reassuring on at the end likely because the test audiences freaked. That's a suspicion I have, I can't 'prove it' but that's what it seemed like to me. And it's the only thing that really took me out of the immersion.
The comic book adaptation has a different ending that makes a lot more sense and is more in 'tune' with Loony Tunes, and I just feel it was obvious they went with that ending to hide what we see here, so expectations would be 'subverted'

I...kind of liked it? Like, it ain't going to be on my Top 10 films of the year (I've seen three in the cinema this year, Another Round so far takes all 10 spots) but I had fun and I sort of expected the cross-promotion to be more...offensive if that makes sense? It did retread the first one in parts but I had fun and don't regret it. EDIT: Also, dude, Don Cheadle should not have been this much fun to watch. He knew his role and thought "Eh, f*** it, I'll treat this like my magnum opus for shits and giggles". {Spoiler}{Spoiler} I did laugh at the Michael B. Jordan cameo. Ray Charles could have seen that coming a mile off but if you weren't going to get the other Michael Jordan, it only made sense.

The 2D-animated scenes were at least well done.

I just finished watching it and I enjoyed it too. I rewatched the original a week ago (ugh I have no time for movie watching... I wanted to watch them together) and I liked A New Legacy better honestly.
