Surprised there wasn’t a thread about this already. Honestly I don’t think its a good idea at all. They tried this already in the early 2000’s and it flopped pretty hard pretty fast. TV viewership habits have changed over the last twenty years and Friday nights are no longer a hot night for watching tv like they were in the 80’s and 90’s. Plus sitcoms are not a major tv ticket anymore, particularly the type of shows that TGIF was most synonymous for.

Honestly, I think this could work assuming the shows are halfway decent.

I wonder if Michael Jacobs will try and get Girl Meets World booted back up over there. It'd likely do better than it did on Disney Channel.

I don't think it really matters. They've had sitcoms at the 8:00/8:30 for the last few years already. TGIF is just a marketing campaign for Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless.

Eh... can't blame ABC for trying to do anything to remain even remotely relevant as a broadcast television continues to slip down the tubes...
but yeah... I can't imagine too many of the millenials this is aimed at suddenly deciding they had to watch a block because it has the initials of something they used to watch when they were kids... only with none of the shows or anything remotely related to it otherwise.

The original TGIF was aimed at teenagers. The reboots were aimed at mid-lifers. Not gonna work.
