The more I watch these trailers, the worse I think this film is going to be.

I’d be shocked if a DC movie turned out to be bland and forgettable

I've been a little out of the loop about this flick and the DC movie franchise, but from what I've gathered, people seem more excited that Keaton is in this as Batman. Which I take it is a good thing for the producers as the guy playing Flash is a bit of a nasty arsehole.

I've seen enough positive feedback online from pop culture/movie reporters I trust to expect it to be a good time but I'm not going in expecting the GOAT superhero movie. The Keaton stuff looks awesome, I have a sneaking suspicion they're going to kill him off and I'm going to be really sad, but it'll be nice to see him do it again. I wish they just did a Batman Beyond movie instead.

Rare example of DC's refusal to bet on anything but Batman actually paying off in the long run. I'm sure somebody in marketing was relieved to find out the advertisement for the film starring an absolute menace actually features little of the character(s) that menace plays.

Can't tell if this is going to end up getting genuinely great reviews, or if this is another example of boosting the most positive voices early in trying to whitewash the controversy away.
We'll see. But I think I'd feel most irritated if it's the first case. As that would be an apparently, rather against the odds, wonderful film that I just won't watch because of the dickhead main star.

Why didn't they just do a Kevin Spacey and digitally replace him with another actor?

Why didn't they just do a Kevin Spacey and digitally replace him with another actor? Because not only is Ezra in about 90% of scenes, there's two of them in each scene for most of the runtime. They'd have had to reshoot the entire movie.

They'd have had to reshoot the entire movie. There's also tie-in comics and commemorative cups and bags of Doritos that would all require production. That's all before we get to the cost: what they spent just on CGI for the Speed Force scenes might be All The Money In The World's whole budget. All of that would have to be reshot, on a film already collapsing under it's budget, by a company finding more and more pathetic ways by the day to pinch a penny. Bluntly, the mega movie franchise model leaves a lot less room to f*** up than a more classic prestige movie like All The Money In The World.

Their only options were to either shitcan the movie and eat a $300+ million loss, or tell Ezra to get their shit together and stay out of the headlines, lean heavily on Keaton nostalgia, hype the hell out of it, and hope the movie does well. The nostalgia definitely seems to be working, at least, and Ezra appears to be making an earnest effort to reform. Early tracking suggests it has a good shot of making money.

The trailers don't make me want to watch The Flash. They make me wonder why nobody has made an Old Ass Batman Movie starring Michael Keaton yet.

I still have no clue how the Flash changing his childhood turns his world into the DCEU but with the Burton movies grafted on. There are time travel stories, there are multiverse stories, but this seems to be playing too fast and loose with both.

All of the Flash inter-multi-verse meddling is going to end in a conclusion involving Owl Woman, Tigra, Jamie Hayter's butt, and Amber Heard pooping on something.

The trailer makes it seem like it should be a fun movie but feels like they just took the most exciting parts and the rest could be iffy

The trailer makes it seem like it should be a fun movie but feels like they just took the most exciting parts and the rest could be iffy that's how Warner Bros have done most of the DCEU film trailers for the last 15 or so years. show the big reveal & put the best bits, use a song that has no connection to the film in the trailer and sit back and wonder why box office profits are down on the film. it's like they secretly became the prototype honest trailers
