WGN would not be that big of a deal so hopefully they can get Spike or something similar. I don't know about that. A new entity on a network that craves wrestling and is available to 80,000,000 homes right off the bat seems a big deal to me. Yeah, there are networks that are in more homes but how many are willing to go all in on not just wrestling but a brand new wrestling product like this? I know this is far from a valid scientific sample, but I wonder how many people just on this board alone (ones based in the US, anyway) don't get WGN. I know I don't.

Is WGN a cable deal or over the air like a local CBS affiliate? Because unless it's available on a digital antenna that eliminates me. Someone mentioned Netflix earlier. If a weekly wrestling show went to that, Hulu, or Amazon Prime I'd be all over it.

I feel that wrestling needs to be on regular TV due to it being a weekly show with no downtime. How about sponsorship & other things too? How would that work with an app unless it was the commercial version of Hulu. Netflix has no sponsors or anything so how would this company make money outside of what Netflix pays them?

I don’t know if it’s a weekly show or what since I still haven’t checked it out myself, but I know Amazon Prime did recently have a wrestling show, called Dojo Pro.

WWE will probably just throw insane money at the Elite and sign them to keep this from ever going anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just leverage for those guys to hold up the E for f*** you money.

If a weekly wrestling show went to that, Hulu, or Amazon Prime I'd be all over it. The WGN that airs Ring Warriors is WGN America, a cable/satellite channel in the U.S. There is a WGN that's an over-the-air station in Chicago, but it's a different channel with a completely different schedule. WGN Chicago and WGN America are both owned by the same company (Tribune Broadcasting), and for a long time the national WGN was just a simulcast of WGN Chicago. But they ended the simulcast about 10 years ago. Since then, the two WGNs run completely different broadcasts. WGN is also available on some satellite & cable systems in Canada, but I believe they still get the Chicago version. (If a Canadian FANner knows that not to be the case, feel free to correct me.) FWIW, I had WGN America when I had cable & then DirecTV. I moved earlier this year and went with the local telco's TV service, though, & don't have it anymore.

Between their merch and their popularity they pretty much name their price anywhere they go.

No, you're right. When TBS and WGN separated from TBS Atlanta and WGN Chicago Canadian cable companies switched to carrying the local affiliates rather then the national cable channels. I believe it was a CRTC (our FCC) decision.

Meltzer believes that Vince has already offered million dollar plus contracts to the Bucks and Cody with them both saying no. I think another issue is the schedule, if Vince is paying top dollar for them he would expect them to have a full time schedule. Basically the only way they come is if they get a $1 million plus contract with limited dates, but if this promotion starts to get off the ground and succeed Vince might do it. He is obsessed with maintaining a monopoly over professional wrestling. The only place he even leaves it alone is Japan, because he knows he can't compete over there.

I feel like the most annoying thing about this AEW thing, would be all the "smart fans" on Twitter that respond to anything and everything Cody or the Bucks tweet with "OH MY GOSH ALL ELITE WRESTLING! TALK ABOUT ITT!!!"

Although whether they’re making any money or not, I have no idea.

Guys remember what I said about WGN? Well, that opinion may just be changed with this news. linkNow this could be like Sinclair and ROH, but if this deal goes through? That is some real power depending on how far NexStar is willing to push it.

Apparently Cody and Brandi were sitting in the owner's box at today's Jaguars' game.

I hope this amounts to something because the current American wrestling landscape neeeeeeds even a small #2 company. WWE's roster is so bloated.

If this gets off the ground and becomes a reality, I only have one tiny condition.

I'd even be ok with a "President" that only shows up when shit gets real like Jack "on the take" Tunney.

I just don’t see it being on an app & being a success. People also doubted that All In could do well, with just a YouTube show. And that wasn't even a conventional "wrestling program." An actual regular weekly wrestling show is even better promotion than Being The Elite has been.

If a weekly wrestling show went to that, Hulu, or Amazon Prime I'd be all over it. A wrestling show on Netflix would be pretty big. I can only speak anecdotally but the way wrestling has grown in the UK lately, if there was a regular wrestling program on Netflix over here I know a lot of people who aren't generally fans would give it a go. All I know is, while I have watched WWE on-off for years I was always a WCW guy (plus ECW when it wasn't pure garbage wrestling), New Japan has been the closest in feel to the wrestling I like since either prime TNA or WCW's days, and All In was the most I've enjoyed a wrestling card top to bottom in a long time with a very, very different feel that really reminded me of the good days of WCW and ECW. If AEW presents a genuine competitor even remotely close to that, I'm all aboard.
